Round Top-Carmine ISD classes begin on Aug. 14.

RT-C JV and varsity volleyball teams host Anderson-Shiro on Aug. 13 with the time to be announced. Varsity will participate in the Columbus tournament Aug. 15-17. JV and varsity were to have participated in scrimmages at Giddings, La Grange and Iola on Aug. 9, 10 and 12 respectively.

Beginning Aug. 14, letters will be distributed to households of the children in the district about eligibility benefits for free and reduced-price meals. Eligibility will be determined by income and family size. Copies to apply for this program and to determine eligibility may also be picked up as either the elementary or high school campuses. Looking ahead, school pictures will be taken on Aug. 22.

RT-C Education Foundation The Round Top-Carmine Education Foundation is sponsoring their first Classics for Kids Car & Truck Show on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Carmine Hall. Cost for registration is $25 by Sept. 6 and $30 after Sept. 6. Free T-shirts will be given to the first twenty-five registrants. Car and truck registration will be from 8-10 a.m. Trophies will be given at 1 p.m.

Cars and trucks from the years 1999 and older are welcome.

Spectator entry is free. There will be goodie bags, food and drinks for purchase and oldies music. It will be held rain or shine.

Blood Drive 

A blood drive will be held at Martin Luther Lutheran Church on Sunday, Aug. 25 from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m.To make an appointment, go to the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center. It is sponsored by Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top and MLLC.

Funeral Serving Committee 

The funeral serving committees of Martin Luther Lutheran Church will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. All members of the groups are invited to attend this annual meeting for discussion and recommendations.

MLLC News 

AA meets Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion observing the Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost is at 6 p.m.

Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.

Sunday worship with Holy communion is at 10 a.m. The Praise Team will lead songs.

Matt Kinsvatter from Lutherhill will deliver the sermon at both the Saturday and Sunday worship services. There will be a Blessing of Backpacks at both services.

The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

Domino party is Monday at 1 p.m.

Recycling Trailer 

The recycling trailer is in Carmine on Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Carmine Hall.

Accepted are clean No. 1 and No. 2 plastic bottles and jugs. Please separate them. Numbers 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 plastics are not accepted. They do not take plastic bags.

Also accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload.

Meals on Wheels 

Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.

Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9 - 11:30 a.m.

Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m. There are five meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
