Round Top-Carmine Elementary will have a Kindergarten Roundup on April 4 at the elementary school from 5-6 p.m. Eligible children who plan to attend Kindergarten and/or Prekindergarten at Round Top-Carmine Elementary for the 2024-2025 school year are invited to attend.

Children who will be five years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2024, and who reside in the RT-C School district, are eligible for enrollment in the Kindergarten Class for the 20242025 school year.

Parents are asked to bring their completed enrollment packet or complete the online enrollment packet, along with the required documents at this time. Enrollment packets are available for download or online completion on the rtcisd. net website. There is also a list of the documents needed for enrollment. Packets will be checked by school staff while parents and their student(s) meet with the kindergarten and prekindergarten teachers.

RT-C Elementary also offers four-year-old prekindergarten. Eligibility for prekindergarten can be established after April 1, 2024. Please call or come by the elementary school office if you are interested in enrolling or qualifying your child for prekindergarten. The elementary number is (979) 966-6116. Children who will be four years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2024, may be eligible for enrollment in the Pre-K for the 2024-2025 school year if they meet certain criteria.

The RT-C High School baseball team plays at Somerville on April 2 at 6:30 p.m. The team hosts Somerville April 5 at 4:30 p.m. Both the high school and junior high district track meets are in Fayetteville on April 3. The area track meet is April 8 in Fayetteville.

The high school district golf tournament is April 4 at Weimar beginning at 8 a.m.

Students will be released at 12:30 p.m. on April 5.

Jr. high baseball is playing games. Call the school for the date and time.

April 8 is a student holiday and professional development day for teachers.

Baptism 

Harrison Kyle Mikeska, son of Mason and Caroline Mikeska, was baptized at Martin Luther Lutheran Church on March 24 by the Rev. David Tinker. His sponsors are Tyler Gandy, Makaela Horne, Wills Webb, and Morgan Daehnke. A reception in his honor was held at the Fellowship Hall of MLLC.

Carmine VFD 

Carmine Volunteer Fire Department drill night is April 11 at 7 p.m.

Bunco Group Meets 

Marie Loewe hosted the Bunco group of the Carmine and Round Top area on March 23 at her home. Lisa Mayer had the most games, while Susan Bathe and Leonita Sanders tied for second-most games. Rene’ Zwernemann and Marilyn Wager tied for least games.

Other players included Darlene Etzel, Lanette Williams, Donna Mueller, Cathy Gau, and Nancy Eilers.

Bingo for Seniors 

Bingo for Seniors (age 60 and older, plus guests) is held on the second Sunday of the month at the Ledbetter Community Center from 2-4 p.m. Cost is $5 per card, which covers 10 plus games and prizes. Chips, snacks and drinks are available for a freewill donation.

This is a nonprofit community event for entertainment.

The next date is April 14.

MLLC News 

Worship Committee meets Tuesday.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion observing the Second Sunday of Easter is at 6 p.m.

Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.

Sunday worship with Holy communion is a 10 a.m.

The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

Quilting is scheduled for Monday at 9 a.m.

Recycling Trailer 

The recycling trailer is in Carmine on Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Carmine Hall.

Accepted are clean No. 1 and No. 2 plastic bottles and jugs. Please separate them. Take note that Numbers 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 plastics are not accepted. They do not take plastic bags.

Also accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload.

The hours in Warrenton at 600 Huenefeld Ln., Round Top are 8 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and also 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays.

Hours in La Grange at 210 Svoboda Lane are Tuesdays 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; and Saturdays 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Visitors’ Center 

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Meals on Wheels 

Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.

Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9-11:30 a.m.

Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m. There are five meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.
