The Round Top-Carmine Education Foundation is hosting the first ever Car & Truck Show. Mark you calendar for Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Carmine Hall. Antique Show Schedule Be on the lookout for changes during this Fall’s Antiques + Design Show. Some venues will open earlier and stay open longer throughout the month of October. Here are a few dates so you can plan ahead: The Arbors: Oct. 1212; Bar W Field: Oct. 3-27; Blue Hills: Oct. 5-19; The Compound: Oct. 10-26; The Halles: Oct. 12-26; Marburger FarmAntiques Show: Oct. 1519; The Horseshoe: Oct. 5-26; Market Hill: Oct. 3-27; The Big Red Barn: Oct. 14-19.

Blue Hills will have an extra celebration on October 5 celebrating the grand opening of seven new permanent retail barns.

Round Top-Carmine ISD Round Top Carmine Independent School District’s policy for free and reducedprice school meals has been announced for the school year. Beginning Aug. 14, RTC-ISD will distribute a letter outlining eligibility requirements, as well as the steps to apply for the benefits. Applications are also available at both the Elementary and High Schools. Eligibility is based on income, categorical eligibility (SNAP, TANF, FDPIR); child’s status, and if the child is enrolled in Head Start or Even Start.

Festival Hill 

The next show at Festival Hill will be Saturday, Aug. 24. The Magnolia City Brass Band will take the stage at the Festival Concert Hall. Houston’s new all-professional British-style brass band under the direction of Houston Symphony Assistant Principal Trumpet, Robert Walp.

Round Top Family Library Thursday, July 25, David Smith will be back for his previously rescheduled talk in conjunction with RTFL’s FYI.

After eight years as an Airborne Ranger in the US Army, David spent his career as a FBI Special Agent investigating various violations of federal law, including domestic terrorism. His last major case was the FBI’s Top-10 fugitive Eric Robert Rudolph for a bombing and murder in Birmingham, AL. Rudolph was finally caught after five years of hiding in the NC mountains.

The Town of Round Top Town Council meets the third Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m. at Town Hall.

Church News 

Enjoy a special Saint Cecilia’s Series Concert with The Wildflowers, featuring Ashley Monical and HalleyAnna Finlay, Saturday, July 27 at 5:45 p.m. Reception following.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church Bible Study met Thursday, July 11 with a lesson on certainty and curiosity. Pastor John David Nedbalek opened with prayer and a short video about asking questions featuring Columbio. He then played a recorded service about acceptance and living in faith. Beyond the certainty f death lies resurrection. A discussion then took place over curiosity and how it can lead us to ask questions, and open doors we never knew existed. Jolene Wickel served as Hostess. Thank you to Sherry Pennington for the extra lessons! BLC volunteers served at Second Chance last week. The next bible study will be held Aug. 1.
