The RT-C Education Foundation will have the “Small School Big Hearts Celebration” at the Round Top Rifle Hall on Saturday, Feb. 4. Dinner will be served from 5-6 p.m., with dine-in and drivethrough available.
Table sponsorships at four levels are available, as well as single meal tickets. The Round Top Rifle Association will cater a dinner of a half chicken, sausage, and sides for the event. Tickets are available online at rtceducationfoundation. org/event-tickets or at local schools or banks.
Donations of any kind are needed to help make this year’s goal, to fund the arts, technology and innovative teacher grants for next year.
2023 Basketball Beau, Kannyn Goehring, and Homecoming Queen, Charlee Wessels were crowned Friday, Jan. 27.
Students were out Monday, Jan. 30, for a professional development day and have an early release Friday, Feb. 17, followed by a holiday Monday, Feb. 20.
If you are interested in a position on the RT-C school board, you have until Feb. 17 to submit your filing.
Local Events
Trey Yenger will be at Busted Oak Cellars on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 4-7 p.m. Come out, try some delicious wine and enjoy the afternoon on the porch.
The Black Cat Choir will play at The Stone Cellar Friday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. The Randy Brown Show is scheduled to play at the Round Top Dance Hall Saturday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m., and DeAnnaWendolyn is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 5 at 4 p.m. On Feb. 18, there will be a Mardi Gras Gumbo Cook-Off and Car Show beginning at noon. Round Top Rifle Hall
The next Round Top Rifle Hall Monday Night Hamburger Social will be Feb. 6. The social takes place the first thru third Mondays of each month. The Hall opens at 5:30 p.m., and the order window is open from 6-8 p.m. All proceeds benefit the continued improvement of the RTRA.
Mollie B and Squeezebox will make their annual appearance Friday, Feb. 10. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., music starts at 6. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door, but don’t wait until they are sold out.
An evening meal of roast beef, grilled chicken, sides and dessert will be available for $15, but meal tickets must be reserved. Call (979) 9667375 or (979) 249-7335 to reserve a meal. The bar will be open and snacks will be available for purchase.

Round Top Family Library
The Round Top Family Library is open Monday from 1:30-5:30 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Yoga is Mondays at 5 p.m., Art After School is Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:30 p.m., Chess Club is Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. and Kids Garden is Thursdays at 4 p.m.
If you are interested in joining a men’s book club, please let the library know. You will be invited to come to a meeting to learn more about it.
FYI presents David Smith, retired FBI Special Agent, on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. After eight years as an Airborne Ranger in the U.S. Army, David spent a career investigating bank robberies, kidnappings, and domestic terrorism including Sept. 11, 2001. He will be sharing true stories and experiences. There will be a question-and-answer session afterwards. This is a free program and all are welcome to attend.

Historical Society
The RTAHS museum has free admission every second Saturday of the month from 1 to 4 p.m. Take the opportunity to view three historical homes and a historical church. Private tours are welcome.

Festival Hill
The annual Valentine’s concert / library fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 11. This year it will be “The Art of the American Song: A Tribute to Dick Smith.” The 2 p.m. concert benefits the Festival Institute’s Faith P. and Charles L. Bybee Library and Study Center.
Lyle Lovett and his Acoustic Group will be performing at Festival Hill Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 7:30 p.m. General seating is $150, or reserved seating is available for $250.

St. Cecilia’s Round Top Episcopal Church holds services with Father Bill Miller Sundays at 8:45 and 10:45 a.m. in the historic Haw Creek Chapel in Henkel Square.
Saturday, Feb. 11, St. Cecilia’s presents a Valentine’s Banquet with food, drinks, and special music by Gus Alvarado and Ellen Story. Celebrations Catering will be serving a fabulous dinner of beef tenderloin with sides and dessert. Couples will be seated at romantic tables for two, and will hear brief words of inspiration from Chris Anderson, Joan Winter, Father Bill and Sandy. Cost is $250.
