RT-C Class of 1955 Reunites; Carmine Lions Make Donations
The Round Top-Carmine graduating class of 1955 held their 67th reunion on October 22 for lunch at JW’s Steakhouse. Out of 22 graduating classmates (12 boys and 10 girls), there were seven class members present. The group decided to have a reunion next year on the fourth Saturday in October.
RT-C School News The Round Top-Carmine High School girls Cross Country team participated at the State Meet at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock on Nov. 5. Maggie Salinas placed ninth at regional on Oct. 25, while the team placed fourth.
RT-C and Fayetteville volleyball teams took a photo together before the game on Oct. 29 at Blinn College Kruse Center to show combined support for the Dig-Pink game. They honored a very special breast cancer survivor. In the battle for the first-place seed in District 28A, RT-C came out on top, 3 sets to 1. RT-C has a first-round bye, while Fayetteville will play Dime Box for bi-district. Mayer Cemetery Association The Mayer Cemetery Association will have their annual meeting this Sunday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. at the home of Lenora Voelkel near Shelby.
Officers will be elected and reports given on cemetery needs like funds for mowing and upkeep. All are welcome to attend. Call Tom Menn at (281) 4853719 before Nov. 13 for directions.

Turkey and Dressing Meal Martin Luther Lutheran Church Women of the ELCA will sponsor their annual turkey and dressing meal on Nov. 13 as a drive-through only from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. with pick up at the Mission and Ministry Building located across the street from the church. Carmine VFD Carmine Volunteer Fire Department drill night is Nov. 10 at 7 p.m.
The burn ban continues for Fayette County. The department reminds residents to check their smoke detector batteries.
Carmine City Dumpster The City of Carmine will have a dumpster for Carmine residents Nov 12-13 from 8-4 p.m. at Carmine City Hall, 260 Luther Lane. Truck loads will be charged $15 and trailer loads will be $25.
Accepted are larger household items. Prohibited items include tires, household hazardous waste such as paint, oil, chemicals, and pesticides, refrigerators, and E-waste such as computers, monitors, and household electronic items with internal components like mercury and other heavy metals.

Blood Drive A Blood Drive for the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center will be held on Sunday, Nov. 20 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. It will be in the Fellowship Hall. Attend Navy Reunion Daryl and Susan Ray attended the annual Navy Squadron VP-17 reunion in San Antonio recently. Fellow Squadron member Ken Crandal and Candace Cane from Minnesota came back with the Ray’s to Carmine to spend a few days. The guys were stationed at the Naval Air Station in Barbers Point, Hawaii in the 1970s.
Senior Bingo The next Bingo for Seniors will be Sunday, Nov. 13 at the Ledbetter Community Center from 2-4 p.m.
MLLC News Rebekah Group meets Thursday at 2 p.m. Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m. Sunday School meets Sunday at 8:30 a.m. for their Christmas Program practice.
The Women of the ELCA Thankoffering Worship service with Holy Communion is at 10 a.m. Carolyn Bennetson will present the message on Quilts. Praise Team leads songs and the Noisy Offering will be received for Water to Thrive. The service will be on the mllccarmine.com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

Quilting for Camp For All is Monday at 9 a.m.
Stewardship Committee meets Monday at 6:30 p.m.
Recycling Trailer The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Attendants are available to help unload dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
Visitors’ Center Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
