The Bethlehem Lutheran Church bible study was held Thursday, Aug. 1 with Pastor John David Nedbalek. Sedalia Ullrich served as hostess. The discussion began with the study of Martin Luther and his wife Katy. The group discussed the fact that Psalm 118 was Martin Luther’s favorite works, and how God doesn’t need your good works but your neighbor does. For Luther, works of love for the neighbor were the natural consequences of grace through faith. We all have different roles and gifts that show both unity and diversity. Anything done in Christian faith for the sake of the community is holy work. This discussion will continue with the next lesson on Sept. 5. All are invited and encouraged to join.
