Round Top Warrenton Volunteer Fire Department will be selling raffle tickets for their annual fundraiser. The drawing will be held June 9 - need not be present to win. Tickets may be purchased at Round Top Real Estate, Round Top Service Station, Round Top Mercantile, Round Top Farm & Ranch, PawPaw’s Cafe, Carmine State Bank, Round Top State Bank, Electric Motor Service in La Grange, or from any RT-W VFD firefighter.

Deep in the Paws of Texas

Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter presents their annual fundraiser, “Deep in the Paws of Texas” Saturday, May 21 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Round Top Rifle Hall. The night will consist of a delicious meal, live auction and live music. Single seat tickets are $150, or a table of eight is $1,200. VIP tables are also available. Shelby VFD Annual Fundraiser

Shelby Volunteer Fire Department’s 64th annual fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday, May 29 at Harmonie Hall. BBQ Beef and Pork plates are available dine-in or to-go from 11 a.m. until sold out. BBQ by the pound will also be available. A free dance with Crossroads Band starts at 2 p.m. There will also be a silent auction and raffle. Proceeds help the department purchase fire equipment and provide necessary training.

Round Top Family Library

Round Top Family Library is open Monday-Friday from 1:30- 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Adult Yoga meets Mondays at 5 p.m. The Kids S.E.E. summer programs will be held in two sessions: June and July. These classes are free and focus on science, cooking, arts and gardening. This program is offered to children entering kindergarten through sixth grade. Class size limited.

Thursday, May 19, local author, Audrey Wick, will be discussing the life of working writer as well as hallmarks of contemporary writing. She is a women’s fiction/romance novelist who lives in Fayette County and teaches at Blinn College. This is a free program.

RTFL FYI presents PHI Air Medical Thursday, May 26 at 7 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. PHI Air Medical provides emergency air ambulance transport services to more than 30,000 patients each year. Join them for a helicopter landing at 7 p.m., followed by a talk with the specialized crew.

The library will be offering a low-impact strengthening and toning exercise class in the library Wednesdays at 10 a.m. in May and June. Bring light weights (2-5 pounds) and a mat.

Round Top Rifle Hall

The Round Top Rifle Hall Monday Night Hamburger Social is the first through third Monday of each month. The Hall opens at 5:30 p.m., and the order window is open from 6 - 8 p.m. All proceeds benefit the continued improvement of the RTRA. Round Top-Carmine ISD

Information regarding Pre-K enrollment, Kindergarten Round-Up and new student transfer paperwork is now available on the school’s website at rtcisd.net. The student’s last day of school will be Wednesday, May 25 with a 12 p.m. release.

Round Top Sons of Hermann

Round Top Hermann Sons Lodge 151 held their monthly meeting on Thursday evening April 28 at 6:30 p.m. with a social hour beginning at 6 p.m.

Vice President, Linda Mattocks, called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Sympathy was expressed for the passing of sister Wanda Borgstead. Reign Bailon was welcomed as a new member. Ray and Susie Ullrich were welcomed as new transfers. Linda Mattocks will be attending the awards banquet in Fredericksburg on June 3-4, as well as continuing education classes near Comfort Sept. 9-10. Lila Garlin will be attending the convention in San Marcos. Linda reported that the lodge is doing lots of upgrading and expanding agents into West and North Texas. The yearly country store normally held the third week of May, brought lots of discussion. The possibility of having it with the Carmine Volunteer Fire Department feast, July 17 was proposed. Waldeck Church will have their church picnic with homemade ice cream, games, raffle and country store on May 22. Lana Limmer and Mary Rauch have tickets. All are encouraged to support this event. Happy Birthday greetings went to Bob Porter and Mert Meinkowsky. Attendance prizes were won by Ted and Margie Stardig, Mary Rauch, Linda Mattocks and Floyd Braun. Ted and Margie Stardig visited the home office in San Antonio this past week and presented a very beautiful and complimentary report.

Thanks to Linda Mattocks and the new serving committee of Ted and Margie Stardig, Barton and Lila Garlin, Kay Von Minden, Randy Wied and Cordell Levien for the BBQ sausage meal with all the trimmings and the membership that brought so many delicious desserts. Thank you to the outgoing serving committee of Virgie Hall, Floyd and Jocie Braun and Linda Mattocks. The next meeting will be held May 26.

St. Paul Lutheran-Shelby

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby holds Worship service at 8 a.m., followed by fellowship, coffee, and Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. Game Day is held the first and third Wednesday of each month from 2-4 p.m. Bring a snack, board game, dominoes, etc. Quilting meets the third Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m. Noisy Offering is the third Sunday of each month.

St. Cecilia
