The Town of Round Top is developing a Strategic Plan for the Town. Voice your ideas at one of a series of Town Hall meetings. The first is Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Round Top Rifle Hall. Submit a written statement of your ideas to the Town Clerk at the town Office or visit the Town of Round Top website www. townofroundtoptexas.org for detailed instructions.

The opportunity to be heard is open to residents, nonresidents, property owners, merchants, visitors, and all of those interested in the future of the Town of Round Top. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Town Council Meetings The Round Top Town Council meetings are held the second Monday of the month at the Town Hall located at 100 Main Street unless otherwise posted. Citizens are encouraged and welcome to attend. Agendas are posted on the website at www.townofroundtop. org at least 72 hours prior to the meeting time.

Round Top – Carmine ISD RTC ISD will hold a public hearing on budge Monday, Aug. 28 at 6 p.m. Students have a holiday on Monday, Sept. 4, and early release Friday, Sept. 22.

Round Top Rifle Hall

Please mark on your calendars a change for the Monday Night Hamburger Social in September. The social will not take place on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 4. The social will resume the following week – so burgers only the second and third Monday in September.

Typically, the Monday Night Hamburger Social takes place the first, second and third Mondays each month starting at 5:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit the continued improvement of the RTRA.

Live Music

Busted Oak Cellars has Open Mic Night on Friday, Aug. 25 from 6-9 p.m., and Josh Tiemann on Saturday from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31 is Bingo Night from 6-8 p.m. $5 will get you a Bingo card to play until the prizes are gone. The taco buffet will also be open – three hard or soft tacos for $7.

The Stone Cellar has Chris Knight Friday, Aug. 25 from 7 to 11:55 p.m. Niel and the Real Deal is booked for Sept. 1, and Max Flinn will be there on Sept. 2. There are several artists and events lined up for the Fall Antique show and some require advance tickets. Visit thestonecellartx.com for more information.

Festival Hill

Saturday, Aug. 26 enjoy a Split Second Piano Ensemble, as part of the August to April Series at Festival Hill. “Four hands, two keyboards…a rich combination of sounds and colors featuring pianists Roberto Hidalgo and Marc Peloquin.” Lunch is available with reservations.

The Houston Brass Band will be at Festival Hill on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 3-5 p.m. Lunch is available with reservations. Call (979) 249-3129 for more information or to reserve tickets.

Round Top Family Library

Yoga in the library is every Monday at 5 p.m. and Wednesday at 9 a.m., Chess Club meets Wednesdays at 1 p.m., and pre-school story time is Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m. If you are interested in helping provide a story and short activity for story time, please contact Sheila Bain at sheilabain@ hotmail.com.

There will now be a jazz dance class for kids with Anna McBride, a past Kilgore College Rangerette. The kindergarten through second grade meets 5-5:30 p.m., followed by third through sixth grades from 5:30-6:15 p.m. Registration is required but the class is free. Also new this fall is a teen art class. This is for grades 8 thru 12 and meets Mondays 4-5:15 p.m. Once again, this class is free but registration is required.

Saturday, Aug. 26 from 1-3 p.m. Bren Hardt, a retired teacher and CNVC certified facilitator will present a workshop based on her book which has sold over three-million copies: “Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life”. Learn to create thriving relationships at home, work, or anywhere.

Sunday, Aug. 27 is the Senior Citizen Gaming party from 2-4 p.m. Come enjoy fellowship and win a prize. Refreshments served. This is free and open to the public.

Saturday, Sept. 16 will be an Advanced DSLR Photography Class with photographer, Sandy Flint. This class is for ages 14 and up. Learn how to use your DSLR’s Manual mode. The class will cover aperture, shutter speed and ISO, and how they all work together. Bring your camera and manual. Registration required.

St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Warrenton holds a monthly service at 8 a.m. for the intentions left on the altar. August’s monthly service was Tuesday, Aug. 1. View the bulletin online at stjohnfayetteville. com for more information.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church holds services with Pastor John David Nedbalek Sundays at 9:30 a.m. Sunday school is the first Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Ruth Circle is the first Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Sewing Circle is the second Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m. Pastor John David leads adult bible study the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. Church Council will meet Aug. 20 following worship.

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby holds worship service at 8 a.m., followed by fellowship, coffee and Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. game day is held the first Wednesday of each month from 2-4 p.m. Quilting meets the third Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m.

The ladies salad supper will be held at 4 p.m. on Aug. 27. Please bring a salad and invite some friends. The annual church service in the historical church across the road will be Sept. 24 at 8 a.m., followed by the church picnic in the education building. St. Cecilia’s Round Top Episcopal Church holds services with Father Bill Miller Sundays at 8:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. in the historic Haw Creek Chapel in Henkel Square.
