Monday Night Hamburger Social takes place the first, second and third Mondays each month starting at 5:30 p.m. The signature menu item is a delicious, hearty hamburger, fixed just the way you like it. The Rooster is a breaded chicken sandwich with a tangy “special sauce.” Hotdogs or Chili dogs are another favorite, along with fries or onion rings. All proceeds benefit the continued improvement of the RTRA.

Local Events

This Friday, June 2, Rockabilly Baroness presents Hot Summer Nights at the 550 and The Mark located at The Stone Cellar. Enjoy late night shopping, dancing, drinks and fun! There are fun events planned for the first Friday of each month through Aug. 4. This weekend, it’s 80s Nite and Denverado’s Birthday.

Over at The Stone Cellar enjoy The Black Cat Choir beginning at 7 p.m. Bill Pekar will be at Busted Oak Cellars Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. during Wine club Pick-Up.

You can also enjoy live music every Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer at Round Top Brewery.

Town of Round Top

Regular Council meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. Meetings are held at the Town Hall located at 100 Main Street unless otherwise posted. Citizens are encouraged and welcome to attend. Agendas are posted on the website at www.townofroundtop. org at least 72 hours prior to the meeting time.

Round Top-Carmine ISD

School is out. There are several sports camp options for students over the summer.

June 5 to July 14 is strength and conditioning. June 5 to July 14 is volleyball and basketball skill work. Sunday, June 25, there will be a performance ofAPatriot’s Heart at 2 p.m. This performance traces the history of the American spirit and will feature professional actress and author, Mary Margaret Mann, with Vicki Sue Wehmeyer accompanying. Round Top Family Library

The Round Top Family Library is open Monday from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday– Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Here’s a look at the free programs offered by the library during the month of June: Yoga in the library takes place every Monday at 5 p.m., Preschool story time Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m., Chess Club on Wednesdays at 1 p.m., Family Game Day on Saturday, June 10 at 2 p.m., Homeschool Playdate on June 21 at 10 a.m., and “Snake Man,” Clint Pustejovsky on June 22 at 4 p.m.

RTFL is teaming up with the Fayette County Community Theatre for a summer theater program with instructor, Melissa Weltner. This is for kids ages 10 and up. The group will meet Mondays and Wednesdays in June and July from 2:30 to 5 p.m., excluding June 1 to 9, and July 1 to 7. Registration required.

Sons of Hermann Round Top

Vice President Lila Garlin called the regular monthly business meeting of the Sons of Hermann Life to order on May 25, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. The final decision on the monetary donations to the local fire departments will be made at the next meeting. Agent Linda Mattocks, was given a round of applause for being the top producing agent in 2022.

The scholarship was awarded to McKinley Jasinski (Becky Mueller’s daughter) from Brenham High School. She excelled in FFA and loves animals. Sophie Rauch, an honor graduate from Round Top-Carmine, was celebrated at this meeting with a special cake. She was presented with a card with everyone’s signature and congratulations and drew the attendance and door prizes.

Happy birthday was sung to Pearlie Wagner, Lila Garlin and Dwight Nittsche. Attendance prizes went to Mary Rauch, Bob Porter, Jeanette Schoenst, Betty Porter and Brenda Stardig. Door prizes, compliments of Betty Porter, went to Pearlie Wagner, Lila Garlin, Melanie Rauch, Margie Stardig, Jocie Braun, Floyd Braun and Sophie Rauch.

Following the meeting, a delicious meal, refreshments, and fellowship was enjoyed by this great attendance and one guest. The next meeting will be held June 28.

Historical Society

The RTAHS museum has free admission every second Saturday of the month from 1 to 4 p.m. Take the opportunity to view three historic homes and a historic church. Private tours are welcome.

Festival Hill

Master Classes begin Tuesday, June 6 featuring Elisabeth Adkins on the violin. Different musicians are featured each day throughout June and July, with the closing concert on July 15.

The Round Top Music Festival opens with Chamber and Orchestral Concerts on June 10. Performers include the young artists in residence, who comprise the Texas Festival Orchestra, and their prominent faculty. Over the six-week period, renowned conductors will lead the orchestra, a different conductor each week.

St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Warrenton holds a monthly service at 8 a.m. for the intentions left on the altar. The monthly mass will be held Tuesday, June 6 at 8 a.m. Visit stjohnfayetteville.com for more information.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church holds services with Pastor John David Nedbalek Sundays at 9:30 a.m. Sunday school is the first Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Ruth Circle is the first Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Sewing Circle is the second Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m.

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby holds worship service at 8 a.m., followed by fellowship, coffee and Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. Game Day is held the first and third Wednesday of each month from 2 to 4 p.m. Bring a snack, board game, dominoes, etc. Quilting meets the third Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m. Noisy offering is the third Sunday of each month.

St. Cecilia’s Round Top Episcopal Church holds services with Father Bill Miller Sundays at 8:45 and 10:45 a.m. in the historic Haw Creek Chapel in Henkel Square. The Saint Cecilia’s Sisterhood Study Group meets from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Visit www.StCecilias. org.
