Round Top Music Festival Kicks Off June 8

The 2024 Summer Round Top Music Festival takes place June 8-July 13. Enjoy daily concert opportunities showcasing a different musician each week day. Saturdays will feature daytime concerts at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., as well as an Orchestra Concert at 7:30 p.m.

The first week’s lineup includes Violinist, Regis Pasquier, Celloist, Kenneth Freudigman, Bassist, Jams Van-Demark, Trombonist, John Kitzman. The first Saturday will only have 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. concert; the 3:30 p.m. concert will cover “Serenade for Flute and String Quintet, Op. 65”, and “String Quartet No. 2 in A Minor”. The Opening Gala Orchestra Concert will feature Robert Spano as the conductor.

Tickets for the Round Top-Warrenton June 13 raffle fundraiser are available now! Tickets are available at Round Top State Bank, Round Top Real Estate, Round Top Service Station, Round Top Farm & Ranch, Round Top Mercantile, Fayetteville Propane, Carmine State Bank, La Grange Electric Motor Service, or any Fire Department member.

McLaren’s Antiques & Interiors, located at 1745 N Hwy 237 in Round Top is having a pop-up the weekend of June 6. Shop global antiques, crystal chandeliers, handcrafted tables, and more.

Chamber Monthly Social 

The Round Top Chamber of Commerce holds it’s Monthly Social the second Thursday of every month from 5-7 p.m. at varying locations. The next social will be Thursday, June 13.

Town Hall Meeting 

There will be a Town Hall meeting for Round Top’s newly elected Mayor on Saturday, June 15 from 4-5 p.m. Come out to learn more about the vision and priorities for the town and community, as well as a discussion on opportunities and challenges to come. This will be held at the Round Top Rifle Hall.

Round Top Family Library TAMU Safety Day is scheduled for Thursday, June 6 from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the library. The day will cover first aid training, CPR/AED, mental health awareness and active shooter training. Lunch will be served. Contact the library for more information on this program or other offerings.

 Hermann Sons

Linda Mattocks, President, called the monthly meeting of the Hermann Sons Life to order at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at the American Legion Hall in Round Top with the membership reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Nearly all officers and committee chairs were present with an excellent attendance in membership.

Different members reported on the status of our recouping members. Community Coordinator, Melanie Rauch, had sent cards to all. A moment of silent prayer was observed for Edwin Gau, Leona Wagner and the brother-in-law of Charlene Stork.

Congratulations to Mallory Krause graduating Valedictorian from RTC and her sister Megan who graduated from Dental Hygiene College.

Old business was the discussion of our Join Hands Day in September, benefiting the Ledbetter Fire Dept. More flowerpots are needed for the plant sale.

Congratulations to Cordell Levien who celebrated his 90 birthday. Happy birthday was sung for the May birthdays - Pearlie Wagner-4, Dwight Nitsche-18, Lila Garlin-27, and Amy Hooge-31.

Attendance prizes were won by Lila Garlin, Jeanette Hancock, Floyd Braun, Mary Rauch and Pearlie Wagner. A big thank you to Linda and Earl for the vegetables brought to share. The next meeting will be June 27, dinner provided by the committee with others bringing sides or desserts. A delicious lunch with refreshments and fellowship followed.

Church News 

St. Martin Catholic Church located at 3490 St Hwy 237 near Warrenton will hold this month’s Mass on Tuesday, June 4 at 8 a.m. for the intentions left on the altar.
