    Round Top Family Library Hosting ‘Communicating to Connect’ Workshop

With the start of the new school year just around the corner, the library has returned to regularly scheduled programming.

Yoga in the library is every Monday at 5 p.m. and Wednesday at 9 a.m., Chess Club meets Wednesdays at 1 p.m., and pre-school story time is Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m.

FYI… presents “Don’t Be A Victim.” Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy Hardy Hay will present a class on Thursday, Aug. 10, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Round Top Family Library. Hardy is a Master Peace Officer, retired HPD Homicide detective, and served in the U.S. Army.

The next Family Game Day will be Saturday, Aug. 12.

Saturday, Aug. 26, from 1-3 p.m., Bren Hardt, a retired teacher and CNVC certified facilitator, will present a workshop based on her book which has sold over three-million copies: Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life”. Learn to create thriving relationships at home, work, or anywhere.

Back to School

It’s back to school time. This was the last full week of summer for our local kiddos. The new school year kicks off this coming Wednesday, Aug. 16.

Busted Oak Cellars has Angie Goeke on Friday, Aug. 11, from 6-9 p.m., the Czech Stompers Band Saturday, Aug. 12, from 4-7 p.m., and Bingo Night Thursday, Aug. 17, from 6-8 p.m.

The Stone Cellar has Midnight Wrangler on Friday,Aug. 11, from 7-10 p.m., and David Grace Saturday, Aug. 12, from 7-10 p.m. Don’t forget to purchase your tickets for the Chuckwagon Cooking class with Chef Grady Spears on Aug. 24, as well as your tickets for the Spazmatics in October. Round Top Brewery also has live music each Friday through Sunday.

Round Top C of C

The August Chamber social will be Thursday, Aug. 24, from 5-7 p.m. at the Mark Speakeasy. This month’s event is hosted by The Poppy and The Stone Cellar.

Round Top Rifle Hall

Monday Night Hamburger Social takes place the first, second and third Mondays each month starting at 5:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit the continued improvement of the Round Top Rifle Association Hall.

Town of Round Top

The Round Top Town Council meetings are held the second Monday of the month at the Town Hall located at 100 Main Street unless otherwise posted. Citizens are encouraged and welcome to attend. Agendas are posted on the website at www.townofroundtop. org at least 72 hours prior to the meeting time.

Library Benefit

The annual fundraiser benefiting the Round Top Family Library is Saturday, Sept. 9, at Windy Knoll. Raffle tickets are now being sold to win a 2023 Club Car Onward. Drawing will be held the night of the gala – you don’t need to be there to win.

Festival Hill

Saturday, Aug. 26, enjoy a Split Second Piano Ensemble, as part of the Aug. to April Series at Festival Hill. “Four hands, two keyboards…a rich combination of sounds and colors featuring pianists Roberto Hidalgo and Marc Peloquin.” Lunch is available with reservations. Church News

St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Warrenton holds a monthly service at 8 a.m. for the intentions left on the altar. August’s monthly service was Tuesday, Aug. 1. View the bulletin online at stjohnfayetteville. com for more information.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church holds services with Pastor John David Nedbalek Sundays at 9:30 a.m. Sunday school is the first Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Ruth Circle is the first Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Sewing circle is the second Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m. Pastor John David leads adult bible study the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. Church Council will meet Aug. 20 following Worship.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church Bible Study was held Thursday, Aug. 3, with the topic “Salvation Now.” Pastor Nedbalek led the discussion of looking at the needs of the world and responding with service. We are Christians because Jesus is risen from the dead. God’s agenda is life by grace through faith with joyful living. Let us all extravagantly share, participate in, and live out joy. Sedalia Ullrich served as hostess. The next gathering will be Sept. 7 at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome.

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby holds worship service at 8 a.m., followed by fellowship, coffee and Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. Game Day is held the first Wednesday of each month from 2-4 p.m. Quilting meets the third Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m.

An ice cream social is scheduled for Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. in the Education Building. The ladies salad supper will be held at 4 p.m. on Auf. 27. Please bring a salad and invite some friends.

The annual church service in the historical church across the road will be Sept. 24 at 8 a.m., followed by the church picnic in the education building.

The church is looking for two volunteers to make Meals-on-Wheels deliveries once a month. Please see Tom Rabb or Oscar Voelkel for more information.

The upcoming Crossroads Shared Lutheran Ministry Meeting is Saturday, Aug. 12, from 9-10:30 a.m. in Waldeck. St. Cecilia’s Round Top Episcopal Church holds services with Father Bill Miller Sundays at 8:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. in the historic Haw Creek Chapel in Henkel Square.
