On Saturday night, be sure to “Swing Into Texas Dance Halls” over at The Stone Cellar, presented by Texas Dance Hall Preservation. The Broken Spokes is a Western swing band known for playing a seamless blend of country, jazz and blues. Not only will you fall in love with their infectious melodies, you’ll also be a part of the effort to preserve Texas’ iconic dance halls. TDHP is dedicated to raising awareness about the cultural significance of these gems and helps to ensure their continued existence for future generations. Doors open at 5 p.m., music plays from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at texasdancehallpreservation. com.

Festival Hill

Each day during the week, a new musician is featured and performs at the Edythe Bates Old Chapel at 1:30 p.m. This week’s musicians are as follows: Susan Dubois on viola Monday, June 26, Lorenz Gamma playing violin on Tuesday, Brent Phillips playing trombone on Wednesday, Brett Schurtliffe playing double bass on Thursday, and Doug Perkins on percussion on Friday.

Additionally, see the Young Artists Chamber Music Groups Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Festival Concert Hall, Chamber Music Concert featuring New American Voices Saturday at 1:30 p.m., the Chamber music Concert at 3:30 p.m. and the Orchestra Concert at 7:30 p.m.

On Sunday will be the Patriotic Concert from 3 to 4:30 p.m. featuring Conductor, Charles Oliveri-Munroe leading a plethora of songs including Star Spangled Banner, Armed Forces Salute, and several more.

Other Local Events

There’s lots of great live music planned for the weekend. The floodgates will open in a few short weeks for the world-famous July 4th parade. Enjoy shopping at our yearround vendors in and around Round Top Thursday through Sunday, come out for a BBQ cookoff and fireworks at the Compound Saturday, July 1, hear a patriotic concert at Festival Hill Sunday, July 2, and stick around for the parade Tuesday, July 4 beginning at 10 a.m., followed by an afternoon of fun and delicious barbecue at the Rifle Hall. You don’t want to miss it.

This Friday, June 23, Busted Oak Cellars is hosting movie night. Come out for a glass of wine and enjoy a good movie on the lawn beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, Josh Tiemann takes the stage from 4 to 7 p.m., and Mitch Marcoulier performs Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.

You can also enjoy live music every Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer at Round Top Brewery.

Lunch Bunch

This month’s Lunch Bunch is meeting Monday, June 26 at the Round top Church Christian Fellowship. No need to RSVP, just bring a dish to share. Contact Betty Melton for more information.

Winedale

Camp Shakespeare will perform The Winter’s Tale at the Winedale Historic Center Barn on Sunday, June 25 at 2 p.m. An additional performance will be given at the La Grange Performing Arts Center at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 24. Tickets are $10, children 12 and under are free. Make a note, performances of Romeo and Juliet will be on July 15 and 16. For reservations, contact robingracesoto@utexas.edu.

Round Top Rifle Hall

Monday Night Hamburger Social takes place the first, second and third Mondays each month starting at 5:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit the continued improvement of the RTRA.

This is the spot for all the action Tuesday, July 4, as mentioned above…after the parade wraps-up, the Rifle Hall will have some delicious BBQ for sale, followed by lots of fun.

Town of Round Top

Regular council meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. Meetings are held at the Town Hall located at 100 Main Street unless otherwise posted. Citizens are encouraged and welcome to attend. Agendas are posted on the website at www.townofroundtop. org at least 72 hours prior to the meeting time.

Round Top-Carmine ISD Sunday, June 25, there will be a performance of “A Patriot’s Heart” at 2 p.m. This performance traces the history of the American spirit and will feature professional actress and author, Mary Margaret Mann, with Vicki Sue Wehmeyer accompanying. Proceeds benefit the Round Top-Carmine High School’s Culinary Arts program. To purchase tickets or for more information visit rtceducationfoundation. org or call (979) 249-7183.

Round Top Family Library The Round Top Family Library is open Monday from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday– Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Here’s a look at the free programs offered by the library during the month of June: Yoga in the library every Monday at 5 p.m., preschool story time Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m., Chess Club Wednesdays at 1 p.m.

A free adult photography class is scheduled for Monday, June 26 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Bring your camera or phone and learn how to take better photos.

Sons of Hermann Round Top The next meeting for the Round Top Sons of Hermann will be held June 28.

Historical Society

The RTAHS museum has free admission every second Saturday of the month from 1 to 4 p.m. Take the opportunity to view three historic homes and a historic church. Private tours are welcome.

Church News

St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Warrenton holds a monthly service at 8 a.m. for the intentions left on the altar. The next monthly mass is Tuesday, July 4 at 8 a.m.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church holds services with Pastor John David Nedbalek Sundays at 9:30 a.m. Sunday school is the first Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Ruth Circle is the first Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Sewing Circle is the second Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m.

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby holds worship service at 8 a.m., followed by fellowship, coffee and Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. Game Day is held the first and third Wednesday of each month from 2 to 4 p.m. Bring a snack, board game, dominoes, etc. Quilting meets the third Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m. Noisy offering is the third Sunday of each month.

St. Cecilia’s Round Top Episcopal Church holds services with Father Bill Miller Sundays at 8:45 and 10:45 a.m. in the historic Haw Creek Chapel in Henkel Square. The Saint Cecilia’s Sisterhood Study Group meets from 10 to 11:15 a.m.

Round Top Christian Fellowship Church holds service at 10 a.m.

The City of Refuge Church on 237 in Round Top holds bible study on Sunday at 10 a.m. followed by church service at 11 a.m.
