Round Top-Carmine ISD Fall Festival Saturday
Make plans to attend the RT-C Fall Festival on Oct. 28 at the elementary school in Round Top.
Carnival games, haunted house, inflatables, and trunk or treating will be from 4-6 p.m. in the gym. Raffle drawing, silent auction, costume parade, and pie eating contest are from 4-7 p.m. in the cafeteria. A meal of pollo asado and sausage for $15 or a hot dog plate for $5 will be served from 4-6:30 p.m. Desserts will be available for a free-will donation.
Carnival admission is $15 for those 5 and up and children 4 and under are free.
Meal tickets may be purchased at Creative Paws Grooming or Round Top Mercantile. It is sponsored by the RT-C Parents’ Club and RT-C Student Council.
Antique Show
The Carmine Dance Hall Antique Show ends Oct. 25. Hours on Oct. 24 are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. On the last day, Oct. 25, hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. It is located at 300 N Hauptstrasse in Carmine.
Top dealers from around the country will be selling Americana, furniture, accessories, folk art, paintings, sculpture, quality antique tools, textiles, art pottery, stoneware, Texas art, silver estate jewelry, toys, mid-century modern, objets d’art and much more.
RT-Carmine ISD The RT-C girls cross country team won first-place in District 29-A. They will advance to the regional meet on Oct. 23-24 at Texas A & M University in Corpus Christi.
RT-C Jr. High volleyball team defeated Fayetteville on Oct. 9. JV and varsity each defeated Fayetteville on Oct. 10. Varsity defeated Burton in 4 sets on Oct. 13.
Jr. High, JV and Varsity host McDade Oct. 24 for their last district game at 4:30 p.m. It will be Senior Night.
Mayer Cemetery Association Mayer Cemetery Association will have their annual meeting on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m., at Lenora Voelkel’s home on 4757 Wagner Road near Shelby. Reports will be given on cemetery needs like funds for mowing, upkeep, and other items plus there will be an officers’ election. All are welcome to attend. Carmine VFD
The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department regular meeting is Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.
A burn ban continues to be in effect for Fayette County.
Residents are reminded to have their house numbers placed where they are easily seen by emergency responders, especially at night.
Carmine Lions Club
The Carmine Lions Club met Oct. 10 at the Fire Department Annex Building.
Vickie LaRue, Project Coordinator and Board Member for the Economic Development Corporation was the guest speaker. She gave an update on the Park Renovation Project.
The District 2-S5 Second Cabinet Meeting will be in Giddings on Oct. 28 at The Venue on Main. Continental breakfast and registration are at 8 a.m. Cabinet Meeting begins at 9 a.m. Lunch is also included. All members are invited. Let Ricky know if you plan to attend before Oct. 23.
The group is having a food drive for the AMEN Food Pantry in La Grange during the months of October and November. Donations may be brought to the meeting or dropped off at the collection box at Carmine State Bank.
Rebekah Group at MLLC The Rebekah Group of Martin Luther Lutheran Church met on Oct. 12 with ten members present. They were Jocie Braun, Dianna Gerland, Diana Wunderlich, Joys Baird, Colette Wunderlich, Joann Ullrich, Leonita Sanders, Sedalia Ullrich, Susan Ray and Carol Carmean Susan Ray led the Bible Study with the topic Holy Places; Session 2: Sanctuary. The two meanings of Sanctuary, a place of worship and a place for refuge, was the topic of discussion and conversation.
The business meeting was called to order by Susan Ray, President.
Diana Wunderlich reported that the quilting group met on Oct. 9 and they are finished with the quilts for Lutheran World Relief. They have started on quilts for Camp For All.
Forty school kits and 12 personal care kits are ready for shipment to LWR, which will be on Nov. 4. The group agreed to the usual donation of money for the shipping expense for the rental truck and the donation directly to Lutheran World Relief.
Wed., Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. is the date for final assembly and packing for shipment to LWR. The blessing of quilts and kits will be held on Oct. 22 during the worship service.
A $50 donation was sent with Cathy Gau from Round Top in place of a quilt top to the Triennial Women’s Meeting.
Leonita Sanders reported that Gary Goebel will prepare the turkey and dressing midday meal for the Women of the ELCA Thankoffering on Nov. 12. Bags of cookies will be donated by women of the church and one bag will be given with each meal.
Julie Guiberteau, daughter of Jean Arlys Noak Schulle who is a former MLLC member, will be the guest speaker for the Thankoffering service. A sign-up sheet for the service will be available after Oct. 15. The table will be decorated on Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. Ladies are asked to bring some food items, such as pumpkins, fruit, vegetables, homemade jellies or pickles, loaf of bread and etc. as decorations for the table and the items will be given to Julie, along with complimentary meal tickets for her and her family.
Poinsettias and Christmas cards were discussed for our members who are in nursing homes, assisted living center, and shut ins.
Gifts to charitable organizations this year will go to AMEN, Fayette County Deputy Santa, Hospice Brazos Valley, the Rainbow Room, and Carmine City Park for a picnic table with benches.
The offering meditation, Numbers to be Thankful For, was given by Dianna Gerland.
The meeting closed with the Lord’s Prayer and the group sang the table prayer.
MLLC News
Confirmation class meets Wednesday from 4:15 until 6:15 p.m.
Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.
Reformation Sunday worship with Holy Communion will be held at Lutherhill in the Carby Chapel. It will be a joint worship service for the Crossroads Shared Ministry which includes Waldeck Lutheran Church, Bethlehem Lutheran of Round Top, St. Paul of Shelby, and MLLC. It begins at 9:30 a.m. Sunday School follows worship with Lutherhill Staff in charge.
The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
Meals on Wheels
Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.
Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9 to 11:30 a.m.
Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and is for pick-up only until 11:30 a.m. There are 5 meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open only on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Recycling Trailer
The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Accepted are clean no. 1 and no. 2 plastic (please separate them and take note that no. 5 plastics are not accepted), dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
