UIL academic district 29A results from Round Top-Carmine are: calculator applications, Kinsley Bage, first, Jaylen Bage, second, Alin Soto, fifth, and first place team; computer science, Peter Kieke, first, Nathan Johnson, second, Luther Bockman, third, and first place team; copy editing, Kendra Pesch, second and Madison Markwardt, fourth; editorial writing, Alin Soto, third, Brooklyn Gold, fifth, and Reagan Williams, sixth; feature writing, Lizeth Hernandez, third; headline writing, Angie LeBouef, second, Sophia Nance, fourth, and Madison Markwardt, fifth; mathematics, Kinsley Bage, first; number sense, Kinsley Bage, second; ready writing, Linleigh Coil, third, Kylie Amos, fourth, and Lizeth Hernandez, fifth; science, Kinsley Bage, second overall and first physics; social studies, Gretchen Sacks, third; and spelling, Kylie Amos, first and Angie LeBouef, second. First, second and third place winners qualify for regionals. Best wishes.

Jr. high and high school baseball teams play at Snook on April 17 at 4:30 p.m. Both teams play at Burton on April 22 at 4:30 p.m. The last game is on April 25 when high school hosts Burton at 5 p.m., which will be senior appreciation evening.

Signed report cards are due on April 15.

April 18 and 21 are school holidays.

Carmine VFD 

The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department regular meeting is on April 24 at 6 p.m.

The burn ban has been lifted for Fayette County. Parts of the county received much more rain than others. Please take great precaution and do not burn on windy days. Use common sense.

If you do decide to have a controlled burn, call the Fayette County Sheriff’s office at (979) 968-5856 to give them your name, location of burn, and phone number.

Carmine 42 Club 

The Carmine 42 Domino Club met on April 2 at JW’s Steakhouse. After a delicious lunch, eight games of 42 were played. Partners drew for positions at tables.

High scoring partners were Betty Porter and Carol Jenkins with a score of 1842 and they played three hands of 84. The second highest scoring partners were Jeanette Schoenst and Carol Naegeli with a score of 1749. Avalda Pohl and Marlene Waak played two hands of 84 and one hand of 126. Myrt Meinkowsky and Linda Mattocks played one hand of 126.

Everyone enjoyed the challenging games and the pleasant conversations. They will meet again on May 7.

Mobile Food Truck 

The Central Texas Food Truck will be in the parking lot of Waldeck Lutheran Church onApril 19 from 10 - 11 a.m. It is for Fayette County residents and will be drive through only. It is located at the intersection of FM 1291 and FM 2145.

MLLC News 

Maundy Thursday worship with Holy Communion will be held at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Phil Fenton leading the service. It will be first Holy Communion for a group of young persons.

AA meets Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

An Easter reception will be held in the parlor Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

Festival Easter Worship with Holy Communion is Sunday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Karen Buck leading the service.

An Easter egg hunt follows worship.

Meals on Wheels 

Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action is on Wednesdays at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.

Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the friendly atmosphere. Hours are 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m. Five meals come in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread for a donation of $10. This makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

To sign up, come by on any Wednesday morning to fill out the paperwork. For more information, contact Marilyn Wagner at (979) 277-4134.

Carmine Visitors Center The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot and Museum is open on the second Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The next date is April 12. It is located at 248 E Sylvan, Carmine, TX 78932, which is on the south side of Highway 290.

They are looking for more volunteers to serve as docents at the museum to welcome visitors. If you are available on any second Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., or 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., contact Diana Wunderlich at (979) 277-4613.
