The Round Top-Carmine classes of 1965 to 1968 held a combined class reunion on Oct. 14 at the Shelby Fireman’s Hall in Shelby. A barbecue meal of pork steaks and all the trimmings was prepared by Gary Goebel.

Turkey and Dressing Meal A turkey and dressing meal, sponsored by the Martin Luther Lutheran Women of the ELCA, is this Sunday, Nov. 12. Pick-up will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the MLLC Mission & Ministry Building.

Advance tickets are $15 and may be purchased at the MLLC church office, Carmine State Bank, or from Leonita Sanders. Call the church office at (979) 278-3388 or Sanders at (979) 820-1360 to see if tickets are still available.

RT-C School News

Students at Round Top-Carmine ISD will be released at 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 10.

The RT-C junior high A and B volleyball teams, junior varsity and varsity defeated McDade on Oct. 24. The seniors honored that night for their last home game were Maggie Salinas, Mallory Krause, Kaysie Ward, Kimberly Rohde, Kennedy Flinn, and manager Fernanda Cerda.

The varsity volleyball team, was undefeated in district 29A. That gave them a first-round bye in the playoffs. The second-round of playoffs was scheduled to be played Nov. 2 in North Zulch, with the opponent, Leverett’s Chapel.

Mayer Cemetery Association Mayer Cemetery Association will have its annual meeting this Sunday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m., at Lenora Voelkel’s home on 4757 Wagner Road near Shelby. Reports will be given on cemetery needs such as funds for mowing, upkeep, and other items. There also will be an officers’ election. All are welcome to attend.

Carmine VFD

The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department drill night is Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.

With the cold weather, the department reminds citizens to check their smoke detectors. Bingo for Seniors

Bingo for Seniors (age 60 and older, plus guests) will be held this Sunday, Nov. 12 at the Ledbetter Community Center from 2 to 4 p.m. Cost is $5 per card, which covers 10 plus games and prizes. Chips, snacks and drinks are available for a freewill donation.

This is a nonprofit community event for entertainment. MLLC News

Worship Committee meets Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Rebekah Group meeting is Thursday at 2 p.m.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion, observing the Twenty-fourth Sunday after Pentecost is at 6 p.m.

Sunday School Christmas Program rehearsal is Sunday at 8:30 a.m.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion begins at 10 a.m. The Thankoffering service will be led by the Women of the ELCA. Julie Guiberteau will be the guest

speaker. The Praise Team will lead songs.

The turkey and dressing meal pick-up is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Quilting for Camp For All is Monday at 9 a.m.

The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

Visitors’ Center

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Meals on Wheels

Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.

Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m.

There are five meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

To sign up, come by on any Wednesday morning to fill out the paperwork. For more information, contact Marilyn Wagner at (979) 2774134. Recycling Trailer

A new time schedule is in place for the recycling trailer.

It is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m.

Also, there is now only an unmanned trailer in Ledbetter behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.

Please follow the rules at that location.

Accepted are clean No. 1 and No. 2 plastic (please separate them and take note that No. 5 plastics are not accepted), dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload in Carmine.
