Round Top-Carmine Class of 1961 Gathers

The Round Top - Carmine Class of 1961 had their High School reunion at the American Legion Hall in Round Top on Saturday, July 13. One class member was missing, Genell Fay Neutzler Weigelt. There was a lot of visiting and great food with a menu of grilled sirloin pork steaks with grilled onions, fried sausage bites, twice baked potatoes, beans, salad, rolls, tea and a table full of desserts and snacks provided by the members. Tommy Menn traveled the furthest, and had the most grandchildren and great grandchildren. Minnie Chovanec was the first to retire and Nelson Aschenbeck was still working at his job. The next reunion will be on July 12, 2025, same place and same time with the same committee as this year, namely Wilton and Pam Schoenst, Jeanette Schoenst, Minnie Chovanec and Lanny Havermann.

Film Festival Gala 

The Inaugural Round Top Film Festival Gala is set for Saturday, Aug. 24 at Windy Knoll on Laird Road in Round Top. This evening will include an elegant dinner, live and silent auction, a performance by Jack Ingram, cigar lounge, Bourbon & Scotch bar, photo opportunities and more. The Film Festival is set to be held Nov. 7-10.

RT Chamber Monthly Social 

The Round Top Chamber of Commerce’s monthly social is held the second Thursday of each month from 5 - 7 p.m. at various locations. The next social will be at The Stone Cellar, located at 550 N Washington Street in Round Top.

Round Top – Carmine ISD We’re almost ready to go back to school. The RT-C Elementary students have “Back to School Night” Thursday, Aug. 8 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, is the “High School Welcome Walk” from 5-6 p.m. The first day is Wednesday, Aug. 14. The next show at Festival Hill will be Saturday, Aug. 24. The Magnolia City Brass Band will take the stage at the Festival Concert Hall. Houston’s new all-professional British-style brass band under the direction of Houston Symphony Assistant Principal Trumpet, Robert Walp.

The Town of Round Top Town Council meets the third Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m. Meetings are held at Town Hall unless otherwise posted. Citizens are encouraged and welcome to attend.
