The Round Top-Carmine class of 1959 met for their 63rd class reunion on April 30 at Emmauel Lutheran Church Parish House in Greenvine. The group enjoyed reminiscing, sharing experiences, and a great meal. Two classmates have passed away since the last reunion. It was decided to have another reunion next year at the same place. The hostesses were Wilbert Ullrich, Jeanette Preuss, and Linda Makowsky. Memorial Day Ceremony

A Memorial Day Ceremony will be held Monday, May 30 at 9 a.m. at the Carmine City Park as we remember and honor the community veterans that served our great country and have died. You may want to bring a lawn chair. The roster of deceased veterans will be read. Light refreshments will be served following the playing of Taps.

For any veteran with Carmine connection who are buried in Fayette or Washington Counties, to be added to the roster, please call (979) 278-3070.

RT-C School News

Round Top-Carmine High School senior Ilse Salinas competed at the state 1A track meet on May 14 in Austin. She placed 3rd in the Long Jump; 5th in the Triple Jump; 7th in the 100m dash; and 5th in the 200m dash. Congratulations on an outstanding day and track career.

RT-C Baseball team was to have played Fayetteville on May 18 at Fireman’s Park with the second game following. If necessary, a third game was to be played with the site to be announced. They defeated Bartlett in two games at the Regional Quarter Finals in Giddings on May 12. Congratulations to the team!

The last day of classes will be May 25 with an early release at noon. Graduation is May 27.

Carmine VFD

Carmine Volunteer Fire Department regular meeting will be May 26 at 7 p.m.

Mark your calendars for the annual Firemen’s Feast and Fundraiser which is scheduled for July 17.

Martin Luther WELCA

The Martin Luther Lutheran Church Women of the ELCA will host a salad pot-luck supper on Wednesday, June 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. It will be a salad potluck meal with the theme “Celebrate Children.” There also be food that is “kid-friendly,” as children are encouraged to attend with their mother and/or grandmother.

MLLC Confirmation

Four youth were confirmed at MLLC on May 15 by the Rev. David Tinker. They were Avery Franklin, Matthew Roemer, Makayla Smith, and Cody Wunderlich.

MLLC Rebekah Group

The Rebekah Group of Martin Luther Lutheran Church met May 12 with nine members present. They were Dianna Gerland, Diana Wunderlich, Jocie Braun, Joann Ullrich, Joys Baird, Leonita Sanders, Carol Carmean, Susan Ray, and Nancy Eilers.

Birthday celebrants recognized were Jenell Jaster and Edith Flinn.

The Bible study was a group study with the theme “Across the Generations – One act of welcome can beget another.”

The business meeting was called to order by Susan Ray, President.

A thank-you note was received from the family of Shirley Mueller for the memorial given to the church for the music/carillon fund.

The collection for A.M.E.N. donations is during May. Fabric Kits for Lutheran World Relief are being collected during May.

Set up for the salad supper will be Tuesday, May 31 at 2 p.m.

Jocie Braun gave the Offering Meditation.

The meeting closed with the table prayer and meal blessing.

Hostesses were Carol Carmean and Susan Ray.

Carmine Heritage Committee

The Heritage Committee of Carmine will not meet for the quarterly meeting on June 1. The WELCA salad supper is that evening and several of the group are involved in preparing for that.

Mark your calendars for the next meeting on Sept. 7.

Eichler and Kieke Reunion

Spread the word and continue the tradition! The Eichler and Kieke Reunion will be held Sunday, June 5 at the La Bahia Hall. Happy Hour begins at 11 a.m. and a meal of chicken-fried pork steak with sides by Gary will be served at 12 noon. The meal is $12 for both adults and children and the count is needed by May 27.

Gene and Conway will have music and German songs. All are invited to join in, and any additional musicians are welcomed!

Carmine Casino Night

Save the date for the Carmine Chamber of Commerce’s Casino Night on August 13 at the Carmine Hall, beginning at 6 p.m. It will be German themed with an Alpine Band, chickenfried steak meal, and drinks included.

MLLC News

Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.

Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.

Worship with Holy Communion observing the seventh Sunday of Easter is at 10 a.m. The service will also be on the mllccarmine.com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

Recycle Trailer

The Recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.

Attendants are available to help unload dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans.

The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.

Carmine Chamber

Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
