RT Family Library Now Offering Jazz Dance Class
New class alert: on Thursdays there will now be a Jazz Dance Class for kids with Anna McBride, a past Kilgore College Rangerette. The kindergarten through second grade meets 5-5:30 p.m., followed by third through sixth grades from 5:30-6:15 p.m. Registration is required but the class is free. Also new this fall is a teen art class. This is for grades 8 through 12 and meets Mondays 4-5:15 p.m. Once again, this class is free but registration is required.
Family Game Day is Saturday, Sept. 9 beginning at 2 p.m. Board games and light snacks are provided.
Saturday, Sept. 16 will be an Advanced DSLR Photography Class with photographer, Sandy Flint. This class is for ages 14 and up. Learn how to use your DSLR’s manual mode. The class will cover aperture, shutter speed and ISO, and how they all work together. Bring your camera and manual. Registration required.

No School on Monday
The RT-C ISD schools are closed this coming Monday, Sept. 4 in observance of Labor Day. Early release is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 22.
Live Music
There are several opportunities for live music to kick-off Labor Day weekend. Busted Oaks will have Eric Flores on Friday from 6-9 p.m., Frank Martin Gilligan on Saturday, Sept. 2 from 4-7 p.m., and Les Cousins Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Trivia Night is Sept. 7 from 6-8 p.m.
The Stone Cellar is hosting Neil and the Real Deal Friday from 7-10 p.m., and Max Flinn Saturday from 7-10 p.m. Karaoke is Thursday, Sept. 7 from 7-10 p.m.
Round Top Town Council On Wednesday, Sept. 6, is the first of a series of Town Hall Meetings to develop a Strategic Plan for the Town of Round Top. If you have an idea of the direction the town should go, submit a written statement of your ideas to the Town Clerk at the town Office. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. at the Round Top Rifle Hall.
The opportunity to be heard is open to residents, non-residents, property owners, merchants, visitors, and all of those interested in the future of the Town of Round Top. Your input is greatly appreciated.

The Round Top Town Council meetings are held the second Monday of the month at the Town Hall located at 100 Main Street unless otherwise posted. Citizens are encouraged and welcome to attend. Agendas are posted on the website at www.townofroundtop. org at least 72 hours prior to the meeting time.
Round Top Rifle Hall
Please mark on your calendars a change for the Monday Night Hamburger Social in September. The social will not take place on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 4. The social will resume the following week – so burgers only the second and third Monday in September.
Typically, the Monday Night Hamburger Social takes place the first, second and third Mondays each month starting at 5:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit the continued improvement of the RTRA.
151st Annual Schutzenfest
Sunday, Sept. 17 come out for an evening of traditional German fun. The 151st Annual Celebration of Schutzenfest will begin at 3 p.m. at the Rifle Hall. Round Top Brass Band performs beginning at 4 p.m., followed by the crowning of the new koenig and ceremonial keg tapping at 5 p.m. Enjoy a free dance 5:308 p.m. A chicken fried steak meal will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Festival Hill
The Houston Brass Band will be at Festival Hill on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 3-5 p.m. Lunch is available with reservations. Call (979) 249-3129 for more information or to reserve tickets.
Hermann Sons Lodge 151
Linda Mattocks, President, called the monthly Hermann Sons Lodge 151 meeting to order on Aug. 24 at the American Legion Hall at 6:30 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Julia Holland was welcomed as the newest member. Linda presented the agent’s report. Correspondence included a letter from the home office that no subsidy checks will be sent this year.
A motion was made, seconded and passed that next year donations are made to different organizations. Collections for CASA will begin in October, with delivery in December. Other suggestions at this time were RTC Parents Club and CPS Dept./Health Dept. Monetary contributions would be welcomed.
Join Hands Day will be at the country store on Oct. 7 at Ledbetter for the Volunteer Fire Department. Set-up is at 3 p.m., followed by Bingo at 4 p.m., fried chicken dinner at 5 p.m. and auction at 6:30 p.m.
September and October meetings may be cancelled due to the Antiques Show, but no confirmation yet. The Christmas party is Dec. 10 at 11 a.m. with the meeting at 12 p.m., followed by a meal and party games.
Happy Birthday was sung to Jo Ann Ullrich who celebrated Aug. 12. Happy anniversary to Ray and Jo Ann who celebrated a 50th anniversary in June, Floyd and Jocie Braun who celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary and Lila and Bart Garlin on their 57th anniversary.
Attendance prizes went to Linda Mattocks, Lila Garlin, Earl Fenske, Bob and Betty Poter.

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby holds worship service at 8 a.m., followed by fellowship, coffee and Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. Game Day is held the first Wednesday of each month from 2-4 p.m. Quilting meets the third Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m.
The annual church service in the historical church across the road will be Sept. 24 at 8 a.m., followed by the church picnic in the education building.
