Former Muldoon native Billie Rightmer celebrated her ninetieth birthday recently with a little party at Regency in Schulenburg last week with family and friends. She was surprised by her grandchildren Lane Rightmer and Reed Rightmer who arrived from Waco and Houston. The family celebrated with cake and balloons and lots of visiting.

Weather

The first week of February in Muldoon was cold. It did freeze, but it was the temperature hovering around 33 degrees with light drizzle that made it seem so nasty and gloomy with all the cloud cover. The wet made the lower thirties seem way colder, especially with a north wind blowing. There was not a lot of accumulation for the length of time it was cold and drizzly, but what has fallen is soaking in and hanging around with no sun to dry it up.

The moisture is needed in the area to help bring on the spring grasses for the cattlemen in the area. Many in the area have been checking on those friends and family members who live around the Austin area and have been without electricity.

Out and About

I took off the last week of January to join my friend, Alayna Kidd and her husband Dave in Houston for the Houston Boat and Auto Show at the NRG Center. We were selling jewelry at the event. The Kidds have Spur Ranch Jewelry, which is a sterling silver jewelry business. It was fun getting to meet people from all over the nation and the world as they pass through the show checking out all the newest in the marine and auto worlds.

Pam Sheffield recently traveled to Houston and had a good visit with her two daughters and two youngest granddaughters. They had a great time playing at the house with all the toys with lots of laughter and fun. While in Houston, Pam was able to make her sister a birthday cake and deliver it to her sister’s house. Pam also had a chance to go out to dinner with her friends Debbie, Darlyn and Jenni. They enjoyed a wonderful meal at their favorite restaurant, Los Cuscos Mexican restaurant.

Dana and Darrell Kulak traveled to the Dallas/Fort Worth area to help daughter, Cynthia Kulak move into her new apartment. Just after they got her stuff unloaded, the winter storm blew in and caught them up in their motel room for a few days as they waited for the icy roads to thaw.
