Rev. John Karle to Speak at Annual Camp Lone Star BBQ
Rev. John Karle, Lead Missionary and Campus Pastor at University Lutheran Chapel in College Station, will be the featured speaker at the Annual BBQ Worship Service at 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 30 at Camp Lone Star. All persons from the area are invited.
The day starts off at 9:45 a.m. with a special dedication and ribbon cutting for the camp’s newest ministry space, the Base Camp Dining Hall. Then, pre-service music by the Summer Staff begins at 10:45 a.m. under the canopy of trees near the lake (A/C live-streamed service is available in the Koop Center).
Following the service will be the traditional barbecue luncheon with noodles and all the trimmings. Drive-thru barbecue plates can also be purchased for $15 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Live and silent benefit auctions follow from 1-3 p.m. indoors at the Koop Center.
The BBQ and Auction is one of the main events which supports Camp Lone Star each year. Last year, more than $100,000 was raised thanks to dedicated friends and the local community. The goal this year is to raise $105,000 which will allow camp to continue fulfilling a mission of transforming lives through adventurous Christ-centered experiences.
