Record Piles Up Awards in Galveston

The Fayette County Record earned several awards over the weekend in Galveston at the combined convention of the South Texas Press Association and the Gulf Coast Press Association at Moody Gardens.

All honors were for work done during the 2023 calendar year.

In the South Texas Press Association contest, the Record won: First Place in Display Advertising for work done by John Castaneda.

First place in Page Design for work done by the staff. First Place in Headline Writing for work done by Jeff Wick .

First place in Lifestyle

The Record was second in the South Texas Sweepstakes category (an aggregate of all awards won) behind only winner The Uvalde Leader News.

In the Texas Gulf Coast Press Association Contest the Record won:

First Place in Humorous Column Writing for work done by Jeff Wick The Record also took home runner-up awards in the Texas Gulf Coast Press Contest in General Excellence, Editorial Writing (for work done by Jeff Wick), News Photos (for work done by Andy Behlen), Sports Photos (for work done by Stephanie Steinhauser), Sports Coverage, Feature Writing (for work done by Andy Behlen and Jeff Wick), News Writing (for work done by Andy Behlen) and Headline Writing (for work done by Jeff Wick).

The Record was second in the Gulf Coast Sweepstakes category (an aggregate of all awards won across all categories) behind only The El Campo Leader News.
