Reality TV Show to Feature Moreau Farmhouse Renovation
A local family has spent a long, hot summer renovating a house they plan to move into by spring break of 2024. Justice of the Peace Jamie Moreau has not only been learning her new role for Precinct 2, she’s also been renovating an 1800’s farmhouse that sat in Ellinger across Hwy. 71 from Hruska’s. And renovations aren’t all the Moreau family has been doing. They’ve been filming the project that will air on the show “First Time Fixer” in Season 5.
In “First Time Fixer,” firsttime house renovators take their home renovation dreams into their own hands and experience the risk and reward that comes with trying something new. “I was telling a friend from college that it was going to take a miracle for us to get the house remodeled due to a lack of time to work on it. She had seen that the show was casting and recommended we apply, mostly for the motivation and accountability,” stated Moreau. “We did it and after a few months, we were selected. The show has far exceeded our expectations, providing not only motivation and accountability but also a lot of encouragement and friendship. From our producer to our camera crew and everyone in between, we’ve been blessed to meet and know such a great group of people.”
The show premiers on Nov. 17 and can be viewed on Max and Discovery+. More on this story to come.
Lickskillet
Tara Miller, Executive Director of the Greater Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce appreciates everyone for their contribution to Lickskillet 2023. “October is a special month in the town of Fayetteville and has been for decades. The month kicks off with a frenzy of antique action that stretches across several neighboring counties,” stated Miller. “It ends with the Lickskillet Days Festival, fondly remembering Fayetteville’s original Czech and German settlers. Every year, for 46 years, this event has paid homage to our Czech heritage.
“This year’s event was nothing short of amazing. Our historic town square was busting at the seams, hosting more than 1,000 locals and visitors. Everywhere you turned there were folks shaking hands, sharing stories, shopping for treasures, and enjoying delicious local dishes. The atmosphere was contagious. Kids running and playing in painted faces, while enjoying the best snow cones in the county brought a smile to your face.
“An event like this takes months of planning, weeks of networking, countless hours of committee meetings, and a touch of magic to bring it all together. To find out what makes Lickskillet memorable, we met with locals who shared years of experience. We then went to work creating this vision and formed a committee of incredible individuals that went above and beyond to deliver an exceptional event.
“We are forever grateful to our committee chairs, sponsors, donors, vendors, volunteers, teers, family, and friends that made Lickskillet Days 2023 an event to remember. Each of you played a critical role in ensuring this event remained true to its roots and held a special place in the hearts of residents.
“Fayetteville is one of the smallest towns in Texas and is home to an incredible blend of natives and newcomers that share a vision to preserve the heritage of this town for future generations to enjoy. Thank you for being a part of this annual celebration, and for continuing to find it in your heart to participate in your own special way! We could not have done this without each one of you. In fondness and gratitude, Tara Miller.”
