Preserving the Harvest Workshop Set May 11

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office, Fayette County will offer a food preservation workshop called “Preserving the Harvest” on Saturday, May 11, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Fayette County Agricultural Building, 255 Svoboda Lane, La Grange.

This program will include up-to-date techniques for pressure canning and hot water bath canning. The all-day session will include an educational program plus hands-on activities where participants will pressure can and hot water bath can products. Participants will leave with two preserved products, a “So Easy to Preserve” resource book, and class binder with recipes, resources, and tips.

The cost of the class is $75 for the all-day session (lunch is included). Credit cards accepted for an additional fee of $3. The class will be limited to the first 15 individuals to register and pay. The workshop is open to adults and youth, who are 8 years of age and up. The deadline to register is May 6.
