Play Bingo in Carmine Friday
Bingo in Carmine will be held this Friday, March 28 at the Carmine Hall, located at 300 N. Hauptstrasse. Doors open at 4 p.m. and games begin at 6 p.m.
Twelve regular games and two cover-all games will be played. Food and drinks will be available.
RT-C School News
Round Top-Carmine Jr. High baseball team hosts Mumford on March 25 at 4:30 p.m. High School team plays at Mumford on March 27 for a double header starting at 4:30 p.m. High school hosts Iola on April 1 at 5 p.m.
High School athletes will participate in the district track meet at Fayetteville on March 31. Jr. High students will take part in the district meet after school on the same day.
A student holiday will be held March 28. It is a staff development day.
Burn Ban
A burn ban is in effect for Fayette County as of March 15.
Men in Mission
Men in Mission of Martin Luther Lutheran Church will no longer be collecting aluminum cans. Please do not drop off cans behind the fellowship hall. The cans may be taken to recycling on Thursdays at the Carmine Hall from 1-4 p.m., or wherever you choose to take them.
The group thanks all those who have contributed in the past. The money was used to help defray expenses for MLLC youth who attended summer church camp.
Carmine C of C
The Carmine Chamber of Commerce had a very productive Spring clean-up day at the Museum on March 16.
Thanks to everyone who helped, with a special acknowledgement to Coach Ben Ahrens and the RT-C baseball team for taking on the outside chores and doing a great job. The Chamber is very proud of their commitment to the community. There was a total of 17 students (13 of which are on the baseball team) and 14 adults participating.
Everything looks great and the museum can welcome visitors every second Saturday of the month.
There is still much to be done to maintain the historic building, which was formerly the Carmine Train Depot. A lot of love was poured into it on Sunday.
Rebekah Group
The Martin Luther Lutheran Church Rebekah Group met March 13. The 8 members present were Dianna Gerland, Leonita Sanders, Joys Baird, Sharon Rhome, Susan Ray, Nancy Eilers, Diana Wunderlich, and Joann Ullrich.
The Bible Study was led by Joys Baird with the theme, “Faithfulness in These Days”; Session 3: Acts 10-11, Peter and Cornelius.
President Susan Ray called the business meeting to order.
One hundred pounds of food was taken recently to AMEN by Leonita Sanders. Quilting continues on the second Monday of the month at 9 a.m.
Lutherhill is in need of volunteers on April 10 to prepare letters for mailing.
The date of the Western Cluster Spring Gathering has changed to May 10. The location is the same, which is at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville.
Quilts for Lutheran World Relief will be packed in boxes on Thursday, April 24 at 9 a.m. in the Mission and Ministry Building. It was reported that the ladies from MLLC in Giddings have sent more fabric for quilts. Local members have also donated sheets and fabric for quilting. All donations are greatly appreciated.
Diana Wunderlich gave the Offering Meditation.
Happy Birthday was sung for the March birthday celebrants, Diana Wunderlich and Barbara Jacob.
The meeting adjourned with the Lord’s Prayer and the singing of the table prayer.
Hostesses were Leonita Sanders and Susan Ray.
Carmine Cemetery Association At the recent Carmine Cemetery Association meeting, it was decided to increase the price on grave lots. Lots still available in sections C, B, and A will be available for $400 until June 1. After that date, any graves bought in available sections will be $500 per plot. MLLC News
Lenten service will be held at Waldeck Lutheran Church on Wednesday at 7 p.m. A meal will be served at 6 p.m.
AA meets Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.
The Carmine Sunday Worship service with Holy Communion, observing the Fourth Sunday in Lent, is at 10 a.m.
Meals on Wheels
Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action is on Wednesdays at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.
Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the friendly atmosphere. Hours are 9-11:30 a.m.
Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m. Five meals come in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread for a donation of $10. This makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.
