Pitman Cemetery Service Set for May 5

Once again there is something to do in Muldoon. Sunday, May 5, will be the annual Pitman Cemetery Memorial Service. This is a day to honor those who have passed on and are laid to rest in Pitman Cemetery. The service will begin at 2:30 p.m. and everyone is welcome to come out, visit the cemetery, visit and just enjoy a day with those whose roots run deep in Muldoon.

This is a chance to see and visit with friends and family that you may not see any other time of the year. There are some who travel from out of state to attend and it is so nice to see those who pay their respects and show honor to those who are no longer with us. There are generations of families laid to rest in Pitman and it is very interesting just to walk through those graves and see all the history that is there.

Pitman is a historical cemetery and was so designated a few years ago. The historical plaque is on display in the very front of the cemetery by the signage. There are graves of all kinds of interesting individuals who have left a mark in Muldoon history in Pitman Cemetery.

Fire Department Fundraiser

On Saturday, the Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department held their annual fundraiser. Even with the threat of rain the event was well attended. They had a nice crowd come and enjoy bidding on auction items, eating some hamburgers, visiting and getting to meet Smokey Bear.

The kids got to enjoy games, snow cones and there were several who were really excited about getting to meet and talk to Smokey Bear. They got to explore the ambulance and the Texas Forest Service trucks and everyone had all kinds of fire information available to them.

Pin Oak Cemetery

Saturday morning was the Pin Oak Cemetery semiannual cemetery grounds clean up. There were eight people with two who were new to the cleanup day.

They mowed, weed eated, and did as much tidying of the old historic cemetery as they could. Plans for moving the shed were made and they left the grounds looking splendid for the spring.

Pin Oak Cemetery is another historic cemetery in the Muldoon area. It is small, but packs lots of history in its grounds. Many in Fayette County can find roots in this old cemetery.

Church News

The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church had a busy weekend. They hosted Dwayne Williams for a two day revival. Dwayne brought a revival spirit and some heavenly music when he came and delivered wonderful messages both Saturday evening and Sunday morning. On Sunday morning the parking lot was packed with those who came to worship with the SG2C.

If you are looking for a Bible based church that is very welcoming, the Stray Gathering Cowboy Church is for you. Come out and check out the services every Sunday with coffee and fellowship at 9:30 a.m. and worship services at 10 a.m. This has been such a blessing to the Muldoon community with all their outreaches. On Wednesday nights they have been giving the area youth a place to come and learn, make solid friendships, and have loads of fun doing it. Youth ages 13-18 years old are invited to come, enjoy a meal at 6 p.m. and stay to learn more about the Bible, God and how to apply it to your life.
