Picking Peaches in Northern Fayette County in April!

N. Mercer of Round Top shared some tips from his orchard this spring: “I used a new method (at least new to me) to protect the ripe peaches from animals which always seem to know when the fruit is ripe and almost always beat me to the harvest,” he said. “I placed the fruit in a net bag when they were about 1 inch diameter and pulled the bag tight around the peach. All went well and the peaches ripened with no bugs or intrusion by others and now simply release the bag and pick the fruit. Will try this again next year! Should work for anything you need to protect in the garden.”
