Picking Park in Fayetteville this Saturday

Listen to a talented group of bluegrass musicians that pick and sing at Picking Park on the square this Saturday. Look for them the second Saturday of each month from January-November. The music flows from 2 p.m. until everyone’s ready to hang it up.

City Council 

The next City Council meeting is scheduled for Jan. 13 at 7 p.m.

Interested and qualified Fayetteville citizens may submit an application for two city council seats up for election in May. The filing period opens Jan 15. The last day to file is Feb 14.

Blood Drive 

The semi-annual Fayetteville Community Blood Drive will take place on Saturday, Jan. 18, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in front of the old fire station on the square in Fayetteville. The blood drive is held by the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center and is sponsored by the Fayetteville/Ellinger Knights of Columbus.

Donating blood helps save lives and the need is great. To schedule a time, contact Jonathan Noska at (979) 966-9569.

Farmers Market 

The Fayetteville Farmer’s Market will remain in the town square, versus the lawn in front of the City offices as previously reported. Check out the artists and craftsperson’s offering locally sourced products on Saturday, Jan 18.

As a reminder, the market is now held on the third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Bible Study 

At Sown With Seed in the square, co-owner Morgan Zator is kicking off the New Year with the first release of some community connection and commitments. Together with her friend Michael Heinrich, @the.girl.michael on Instagram, they will lead a Bible study focused around the book, “The Circle Maker” by Mark Batterson.

All that is required is a commitment to participate, bringing the book, a journal, and your Bible. Mark your calendar for the Bible studies, herbal classes and sound baths. Space is limited so RSVP is required. Message Zator on Facebook. For more on Sown With Seed, go to sownwithseed.com.

Bible study will begin Jan. 15 from 4-5:30 p.m. (every Wednesday in January) and Sound bath from 6:30-8 p.m.

Bible study on Jan. 29 from 4-5:30 p.m. and Sound bath from 6:30-8 p.m.

St. Paul Lutheran 

St. Paul Lutheran holds services on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Services are recorded every week, rotating among four Shared Lutheran Ministry churches and posted on the Facebook page for the Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County. Services are also featured on KTIM 89.1 Sundays at noon.

St. John 

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville holds Mass Saturdays at 6 p.m., and Sunday’s at 10 a.m.

St. Mary 

St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger holds Mass on Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sunday’s at 8 a.m.

Fayetteville Brethren 

Worship services at Fayetteville Brethren are held on the second, third and fourth Saturday of every month at 10 a.m. An adult Bible Study is held before the worship service from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
