Parade Kicks Off Muldoon July 4th Celebration
Muldoon will be celebrating Independence Day on Saturday, July 6. The celebration will begin with a parade with line up at 8 a.m. Everyone is invited to join in the fun and participate in the parade. You can walk, ride, drive, dance or if you are really wanting to go big, a float. It is always fun and the parade will start at 9 a.m.
For those who do not want to be in it, then join the fun and watch it. It will wind over the railroad track by the Muldoon Mercantile, head south on FM 154 and then circle through the park, so everyone in the parade can wave at everyone else in the parade.
Following the parade the activity in the park will pick up with a silent auction. Auction items are welcomed. Contact Shelia Brunner at (361) 7720246 or sbrunner581@icloud. com for more information or to let her know you would like to donate something. Items in the past have been everything from fresh garden produce, antiques, baked goods to handmade items.
A lunch of hot dogs, chips and tea will be served. Everyone is asked to bring along a side dish, salad, and/or dessert to share. It is always fun to see what everyone is cooking and taste new dishes.
At 12:30 p.m., there will be a live auction. There is always a fun time with bidding wars and interesting items. So plan on coming out and spending Saturday in the park.
Church News
The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church is still alive and active during the heat of the summer. They have coffee and doughnuts on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. prior to the 10 a.m. morning worship. They want to invite everyone to come and attend. If you are looking for a Bible-based church stop by and see what it’s all about.
The youth ROPE group meet on Wednesday nights 6-8 p.m. This group of youth ages 13-18 years old are a very active group. They will miss this Wednesday, July 3, but start back full force on July 10. The ROPE group attended church camp recently and are coming back rejuvenated and ready to face the summer. If you are an area youth just show up on Wednesday nights, get fed and blessed.
Neighborhood Watch
During these hot days of summer be sure to watch out for your neighbors. Not only for their place, but also them. Call and check on them, especially the elderly neighbors. With this heat some are getting sick with the “summer flu” and others the heat has just taken them out.
While out and about when you glance up at your neighbors’ place give them a call and double check on them to make sure they are doing ok in this heat. Muldoon is small and we all need to pull together to keep each other safe in so many ways.
Out and About
Kathy and Frank Chlumsky slipped away to Austin to celebrate their granddaughter, Olivia Williams. She celebrated her 7th birthday. Frank and Kathy were able to attend her party and help her celebrate. In addition to her regular birthday gifts Olivia also got a real treat, the first watermelon from the Chlumsky garden for this year.
