Pancakes for a Good Cause
Last week’s La Grange Rotary pancake supper served about 1,300 clients, including children six and under (free), according to Rotary organizer Don Jones. “Our net profits will fund our scholarships this spring – which has been a focus of this Rotary program started by Richard and Nelda Barton. Our sponsors support the event by paying the cost of our outlay for product,” Jones said. Contributions from your neighbors comes from the Deters family and Whataburger. Eggs come from Cal-Maine in Flatonia. LG Scouts and Interact Club students sell tickets which they receive 50% of the proceeds – a big fundraiser for them. Inside diners went through about 50 bottles of syrup, 1,500 sausage patties and 1,500 pancakes. “Note for next year: I would like to remind our drive thru customers that dining in gets you unlimited pancakes, sausage, butter and syrup,” Jones said.
