Opry to Host Gospel Show Monday, Oct. 17
This month the Fayette County Country Music Club monthly Opry is proud to host a Gospel Show with D’Vine Testament and The Fleckables on Monday, Oct. 17 at the Knights of Columbus Community Center in La Grange.
D’Vine Testament is a Christian Music Group who have been performing together for 11 1/2 years. All of the members have been involved in music for decades, singing and playing in many different bands. Music ranging from “Polkas and Waltzes,” “Country,” and “Rock. Although none of the members had ever played together, the group came to be by “Divine Intervention”, and a lot of wonderful people in our communities who were demanding that we sing a lot more than an occasional Sunday in church. So, “D’vine Testament” was formed, and since have recorded four CDs.
In addition the group, as well as individually, has performed for many weddings, funerals, country Oprys, Festivals, memorial services and numerous concerts for churches of all denominations. In general, “We Just Like To Sing.” For the past 2 plus years, the group, known as “Wren’s And Friends” have been playing classic country music for fundraisers, festivals, private parties and in Dancehalls. Members of the group are: Byron Wren from Smithville, Dennis Stryk, David Machac, and Bruce Lebeda, from Schulenburg, and Joe Dybala fom Fayetteville.
The Fleckables began with Lynne Machac (guitarist), Mary Lou Anderle (vocalist) and Karen Wren (guitarist), when they sang for a Women’s ACTS Retreat in 2011. A year later, Phyllis Kleinschmidt joined them as bass guitar player. Then several years later, Kathy Goertz joined their group as our keyboard player. As the years passed, they eventually added their final two members, Bailey Mathis (guitarist and daughter of Karen Wren) and Lindsay Saunders (vocalist and daughter of Kathy Goertz.)
Their name, unusual as it is, came about several years after they had been singing together. The Fleckables came about as a play on words as they were laughing and talking about how flexible they were as musicians. Their group has bonded over their strong Catholic faith, love of family and music. They have played for countless ACTS retreats, Diocesan retreats and local church retreats and gatherings. Each of them also sing for their church choirs. Their members represent an extended area of Central Texas. Lynne Machac, Schulenburg; Mary Lou Anderle, La Grange; Phyllis Kleinschmidt, Lexington; Karen Wren & Bailey Mathis, Smithville; Kathy Goertz & Lindsay Saunders, String Prairie.
Interesting fact: Lynne Machac is the wife of David Machac and Karen Wren is the wife of Byron Wren, who are both members of D’Vine Testament.
