Olvera Signs Letter of Intent for Tarleton Band

April 22, Jorge Olvera of Schulenburg High School held a signing ceremony as he accepted an offer to join the Tarleton State University Band program. Schulenburg band director Justin Bartlett said, “Jorge Olvera has and continues to be a great example to our band members, who also participate in other activities. Not only was he a strong musician and leader in the band, but he was also active in football, powerlifting, track, and baseball. He did all this at a high level and never complained. This year he was thrown in the band and I couldn’t have asked for a better leader. He participated in everything we had to offer: marching band, concert band, jazz band, and UIL Solo & Ensemble contest on a Class 1 multi-percussion solo receiving a Division 1 rating. His hard work and dedication has helped the band reach our expectations and to raise the bar another level I know he will continue to do great things, and be a strong addition to the Sound and the Fury Marching Band at Tarleton, while he pursues his dream of becoming a vet.” Pictured are (back, from left) H.S.
