ARTS

The amazingly gifted mother-daughter team of Christy Crews Dunn and Erin Urban will introduce their expressive works at the opening of “Natural Expressions,” a new exhibit at ARTS this Saturday, June 8, from 4 - 6 p.m.

An internationally recognized ceramic artist known for her sculptural quality, handcarved animal teapots, Dunn has been a clay artist for over 30 years.

“My focus is on wheelthrown, hand-built, sculpted pottery. In this show, I will feature jars of varying sizes and colors, vases and mystery boxes. I’m excited to have shifted my sculptural building techniques to add another layer of realism.” Dunn’s distinctive work has been featured in galleries all across the country. At this exhibit, she is showcasing a unique new style of vessel carving for the first time. Dunn may be contacted at christycdunn@yahoo.com.

Urban’s artistic endeavors began as a child, having grown up in her mother’s art studio. Urban transitioned from an early career in architecture and design to helping people design their ideal life as a certified coach. As her extensive career evolved, so did her expressive work, which encompasses writing, graphic design, photography, crafts and fine art. Most recently, Urban has shifted from acrylic painting to watercolor and is a bestselling author, avid outdoors enthusiast and has been recognized as a “Top 15” coach in Houston by Influence Digest. “We’re both very grateful for the ability to participate in furthering the mission of ARTS,” stated Urban.
