Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the following calls in January: Jan. 4, Vehicle fire on SH 159 at Columbus Hall Ln.

Jan. 24, Assist Game Warden with water rescue on Josie Lane at Rek Hill Rd.

Fayetteville VFD also recently held its 2024 election of officers: Fire Chief: Randy Noviskie; Assistant Fire Chief: Rodney Sladek; Captains: Kenneth Chovanec, Dusty Walcik, Brad Neville, Damon Faldyn and Shawn Faldyn; President: Ricky Kovar; Vice President: Vince Orsak; Secretary/Treasurer: Bill Herrington .

Chief Noviske reminds all residents to post 911 addresses so they are visible from the road for first responders to locate when responding to emergencies.

City Council 

Three Fayetteville City Council seats, positions 1, 3 and 5, are up for grabs. Applications for these seats must be completed no later than this Friday, Feb. 16 at 5 p.m. For instructions to file, contact the City Secretary by email: fayettevilletx@cvctx.com or call (979) 378-2559. City Council members currently holding these positions include: Neal Doty, Position 1 Kathy Griffith, Position 3 Pam Fritsch Reynolds, Position 5 Primary Election Day voting will take place in the City of Fayetteville meeting room. Primary early voting will take place at the Fayette County Election offices from Feb. 20 to March 1.

Holiday closure 

FISD, Fayetteville Bank and the post office will be closed this Monday, Presidents’ Day.

EDC Board 

The Fayetteville Economic Development Council (FEDC) is seeking a new board member. “Anyone who is interested in and excited about expanding business opportunities and boosting the economic growth of Fayetteville is welcome to contact us,” stated Kevin White, FEDC secretary. Guest Speaker 

Chef John Reynolds was the guest speaker at a recent Lion’s Club meeting. The Fayetteville resident has contributed his extensive culinary skills to a general, the head of the Mafia, and a vice president. Our own George Valtasaros trained under him. Reynolds now shares his expertise as a consultant at Festival Hill.

Food Drive 

The Fayette County Texas Exes are holding a food drive to support AMEN Food Pantry. Nonperishable food items can be dropped off from Feb. 9 through Feb. 24 at Orsak’s and Circle C General Store. Please help them make this event successful by supporting our local food pantry.

Painting Demo 

Save the date for Stephen Henry’s Painting Demonstration and Closing Show this Saturday from 2 until 4 p.m. at the Red & White Gallery.

Church Services 

St. Paul Lutheran holds services on Sundays at 10:30 a.m.

Worship services at Fayetteville Brethren are held on the second, third and fourth Saturday of every month at 10 a.m. An adult Bible Study is held before the worship service from 9 to 9:45 a.m.

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville holds Mass Saturdays at 6 p.m., and Sunday’s at 10 a.m.

St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger holds Mass on Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sunday’s at 8 a.m.
