Neighbors Night Out Slated Oct. 22 in Warda

Neighbors Night Out in Warda will be held on Sunday, Oct. 22 beginning at 4 p.m. at the picnic grounds. Everyone in the Warda area is invited to attend. Planned speakers include TxDOT, information on local oil drilling and activity and Q & A on the state of St. Marks Hospital. Rabbs Creek Wildlife
The Rabbs Creek Wildlife meeting will be held Sunday, Sept. 17 at the Holy Cross Picnic Grounds. Social time will begin at 4 p.m. with the meeting taking place at 5 p.m. Members are welcome to bring a snack or dessert.
Wednesday Night Bible Study The Wednesday Night Bible Study Group is doing a study on the Old Testament book of 1 Samuel at 6:30 p.m. This 11-week study will cover the calling of the first two kings of Israel, Saul and David. 35th Annual Wendish Fest The 35th Annual Wendish Fest will be held on Sunday, Sept. 24 at Serbin. The day will offer lots of Wendish history, heritage, culture and family activities at the St. Paul Picnic Grounds. Guest speakers for the 8:30 a.m. English Church Service and the 10:30 a.m. German Service will be Rev. Dr. Gerald Paul, Rev. John Schmidt and Rev. Thomas Obersat. Church tours will be offered at 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. The traditional Wendish noon meal will be available at 10:30 a.m. for $15 and children $6.
To-go and drive-thru will also be available at 9:30. All take-out meals are $15. The joy of polka music will be shared throughout the day by The Shiner Hobo Band. The students of St. Paul Lutheran School will present Ptaci Kwas (Wendish Bird Wedding). The Wendish Heritage Museum Complex will feature Wendish folkways, demonstrations and exhibits, a German Christmas Market and the traditional decorated Wendish Easter Egg demonstrations and sales. Bluff Creek Ranch in Warda will hold The Bluff Creek Blowout on Oct. 14-15. This is a 24 hour Terra Firma racing event that can be done solo or on a team of up to 10 people. More information on this race, other mountain bike races or trail riding can be found at www.bcrwarda.com.
Lutheran Early Response Team Everyone is invited to attend an informational meeting/ luncheon on Sunday, Oct. 8 at Holy Cross in Warda on LERT (Lutheran Early Response Team.) This is to learn more about the possibility of forming a network of volunteers trained to respond in times of disaster. Speaker Rev. Michael Meyer will present the program. Lunch will be served at noon, followed at 12:30 p.m. by the informational meeting. Make plans to attend and learn about this program.
Holy Cross Services

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

Faith Lutheran High School Everyone is invited to join the weekly Chapel Worship Service each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
Visit Day for 7 and 8 grade students will be held at Faith to give future students the opportunity to see what FLHS is all about. This event begins with lunch and will last till approximately till 3 p.m. Visit day for 7th grade students will be held Sept. 27, 8th grade students Sept. 20.
FLHS will be hosting a game night on Sept. 29 from 6-9 p.m. for 7 and 8 grade students, there will be lots of food, fun and fellowship.
Students recently enjoyed the annual retreat at Camp Lone Star where they participated in challenge courses, learned about conflict-resolution from a Biblical perspective and had loads of fun.
Save the date for Faith Lutheran High School’s Annual Oktoberfest, Saturday, Oct. 28, New this year will be the Battle of the Vines, in addition to the Battle of the Brew-both are home brew competitions, so start planning your brews now. Returning will be the traditional German meal, domino tournament, cornhole tournament, music, kids games and lots of fun.
