The Navidad Valley Senior Center Celebrates Birthdays, Plays Bingo
Summer is in full swing and boy, do we feel it. Between the high temperatures, kids are out of school, people are doing some running around, while trying to balance the high gas prices too.
The members find the company of their friends and neighbors comforting. This sense of community is very important to them, and that makes it very important to us. From this initial sense of community, springs forth participation in the daily program and friendships are strengthened. When one person wins eight bingo games in one day, that person will either be loved or booed. At the Senior connections center that person was applauded, messed with lovingly, and chided gently.
Our plans for outings greatly enhance our experiences and we grow together with each time we are out and about. Members are looking forward to our next outing.
Perhaps we’ll take in an Elvis movie towards the end of this month and try out the burgers at Darlin’s Diner. We would like to explore more of the options available to us within the communities of Weimar, Flatonia, La Grange, and Schulenburg. There’s a lot to do, but we must be mindful of the high temps, stay hydrated, and keep everyone comfortable.
Birthdays were celebrated at the Center. Aileen Kasper, Clara Christ, and Berni Gillings all celebrated birthdays in the month of June. Milton Christ and Linda Kobersky, who also had June birthdays, were not present.
