Navidad Valley CattleWomen Award Scholarships

Navidad Valley CattleWomen recently awarded $10,000 to eight area youth whose futures will impact the beef industry in a big way. All applicants were high school seniors from Fayette, Colorado and Lavaca counties with an interest in agriculture. There were 24 applicants from communities.

Their applications reflected how bright the students were, shared civic and church involvement, along with their work ethic and big plans for the future.

The students selected included: Catherine Wenske-Moulton High School, Lauren Cervenka-Hallettsville High School, Taygon Pieprzyca-Rice Consolidated High School, Laura James-Flatonia High School, Blane Warnken-Schulenburg High School, Hunter Nevlud-Shiner High School, Caden Chrismon-Shiner High School, Hunter Nevlud-Rice Consolidated High School.

The Navidad Valley Cattle-Women, a local chapter of the Texas Cattlewomen, is a nonprofit organization that supports and promotes the beef industry. Scholarship funds are raised by the generous support of the sponsors of last year’s NVCW 5K Ranch Run.

The Navidad Valley local works to support local youth with scholarships and provide quality information on the industry and how to incorporate beef into a healthy diet. Additionally, they work to support the community with targeted outreach projects that include a beefy twist. CattleWomen function collectively to inform consumers of the importance of the industry and of the contributions it makes to the economy of our nation.
