Mystery Merchandise Store Opens in Schulenburg

A new store that opened in Schulenburg Friday offers customers a fresh twist on discount shopping.

Seven Day Deals held a “soft” grand opening Friday, Oct. 6, in the former Family Dollar store at 82 N. Kessler St. (US 77).

Store Manager Maranda Modisette Immenhauser said Seven Day Deals offers customers deep discounts on home goods, kitchen items, clothing, toys, electronics, shoes and more. Merchandise comes from a major online retailer. Every week the store purchases a truck load of mixed products from the retailer.

“Every week there is a mystery truck, and we buy whatever is on the truck,” Immenhauser said. “We change out the products every week. Every week there is a new truck.”

Immenhauser said the merchandise may have been returned from the retailer’s online customer or products that were lost in shipping. But everything comes in original packaging, she said. The store will be open every day of the week except Thursday.

“That’s the day when we flip the new product,” Immenhauser said. “Friday, when the store opens, that’s when the new deal starts. For example, on Fridays, everything in the store may be $10.”

The store will drop the price throughout the week, Immenhauser said, with lowest prices coming on Wednesdays.

“Cell phones, shoes, purses - we’re even getting bags from Coach, Versace and Gucci,” Immenhauser said. “It’s name-brand stuff that you would normally spend hundreds of dollars for.”
