Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department had a very successful fundraiser the last Saturday in April. With the weather holding, there was a nice crowd in attendance. The tables of auction items were over flowing and bids were fast and furious for some of the items, making it a fun time.

In attendance at the festivities were the Texas A&M Forest Service with one of their trucks and a dozer on exhibit. Also attending was none other than Smokey Bear. This was just one of the fun things that the young kids got to enjoy. Another was the snow cones that kept everyone cool and refreshed.

They served a meal that was enjoyed by everyone before the live auction began followed by the drawing for all the great raffle prizes. It was a fun and very productive day for the fire department as they raised money to pay for trucks and equipment.

Pin Oak Clean Up

The historic Pin Oak Cemetery held their bi-annual clean up day on the first Saturday in April and had a group of six who showed up to clean up. Among those who came were Brit Syler, John and Debra Schwartzenburg, George Reyes, John Coppedge and Doug Jones, all who have relatives buried in the cemetery.

Out and About

Dana and Darrell Kulak traveled to Arlington to celebrate their grandson, Henry Kulak’s second birthday. They enjoyed a “Llama Llama” cake in the park and had par-a blast with Henry and his parents Elton and Miko Kulak.

Nancie and Billy Blair started their busy Saturday with the Fire Department Fundraiser and then traveled to Houston so they could attend Christ the Servant Lutheran Church’s 50th anniversary celebration, which turned out to be a lovely affair with a presentation of the beginning and growth of the congregation.

They enjoyed seeing so many old friends and looking back at all the ministries that the church had taken on. Roberta Gullick was thrilled to have her brother Roger Mitchell and his son in law Vence Meeley come in from Shidler, Oklahoma, to visit for a few days. Joining in the little mini family reunion was Roberta’s other brother Jimmy Mitchell from San Antonio, along with niece Judith Kilham and her mom Jamie Kilham Pellecchia from New Hampshire. This was the first time in 40 years the siblings have had a chance for all of them to be together. Krispin and Mike hosted the family at their home next door with great BBQ on Saturday. Roger and Vence did a lot of little jobs for Roberta around the place.

John and Debra Schwartzenburg enjoyed a visit from Claude Oscar (Butch) Speed III and his wife Sandy. Claude is a cousin and was keeping up with his extended family and took advantage of being in Muldoon and visited the freshly cleaned up Pin Oak Cemetery where some of his family are buried. Claude is a retired Navy pilot and he and Sandy live in Norfolk, Virginia, but are on a tour of the US in their trailer.

Celebrates Anniversary

Ron and Pam Knotts got a chance to celebrate their 43rd wedding anniversary recently with a road trip to Victoria and dinner at the Pumphouse Restaurant. They made the restaurant choice based on a Facebook recommendation and were rewarded with a great celebration. The weather was clear and mild for the drive to Victoria and a light crowd for dinner. The server took time to highlight special items on the menu and spent time making sure the evening was special. The finishing touch was small desserts served in shot glasses. It was a simple celebration but very special.
