The Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department will be holding their annual fundraiser on Saturday, April 20 starting at 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Muldoon Station, 333 N. 3rd Street. Everyone is invited to come out and join in. There will be a silent auction beginning at 10 a.m. and a live auction that begins at 12:30 p.m. Proceeds will help pay for the new pumper engine that has been purchased to replace part of the aging fleet.

For the adults, Texas A&M Forest Service will be there to distribute all kinds of information, along with answering questions. There will be all kinds of kid activities, snow cones, games, and even Smokey the Bear will be there. The MVFD will have equipment on display to be checked out.

Food will be served at 11:30 a.m. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, water and tea will be served and everyone is encouraged to bring a side dish or dessert to share. This is a chance to share a meal with your neighbors and get to catch up on what is going on.

Cowboy Church Revival The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church is once again holding a church revival on Saturday April 20 and Sunday April 21. They will be hosting Dwayne Williams on Saturday night at 7 p.m., but come early at 6 p.m. and bring along a dish to share at the pot luck dinner. This is a great chance for a wonderful meal and then a concert by Dwayne. If you did not get a chance to hear him last time, do not miss hearing this gentleman sing this time. He is very gifted and what a voice. This is a great way to end your day.

Then on Sunday morning at the 10 a.m. service Dwayne will once again lead the message in both song and the word. Here is your chance not only hear a great talent. This is also a chance to check out the SG2C programs and maybe find a place to worship in the area.

Spring Roundup

The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church will be holding a Spring Round Up of family friendly fun on Saturday, April 27 11 a.m.-4 p.m. There will be a cake walk, face painting, and lots of games. A dummy roping will be held with a buckle prize. They also will have a corn hole tournament. Entries will be $20 per team and the prize money will be determined by the amount of teams involved. For more information contact Lee Nusbaum at (512) 629-2114 for more information on the tournament.

There will be raffle baskets to compete for and a sack lunch of burgers, chips, cookies, and a drink will be offered for $10. There also will be concessions available all day, if you need just a little snack or maybe you would like an extra bite of something.

The whole community is invited to come out and join in all the fun. It is a great chance to check out the church and maybe meet a few neighbors while having a lot of fun. This also will give anyone interested in any of the church programs going on to ask questions and find out more about what is going on at SG2C.

Rain

Muldoon recently experienced some strong winds and received over two inches of rain. The rain is welcomed to help bring on the spring grasses and fill the tanks in preparation for the summer season.

Out and About

Nancie Blair went to Fort Worth to visit her mom, Elaine Lang, along with her sister and brother-in-law, Lu and Fred Ginapp. They attended the opening day game for the Texas Rangers game verses the Chicago Cubs. These were two of Elaine’s favorite teams. Elaine has been a lifelong Cubs fan and a Rangers fan for 52 years. In fact, Elaine has made every Ranger home game since 1972. It was great when the Rangers won.

Nancie Blair and Joan Ivy traveled with Tricia Griste and Kim Bonewald once again on the All Texas Quilt Shop Hop. This time we headed to the valley and back. We hit nine shops in two days. It was a blast seeing so many different shops, meeting so many new people and eating at some wonderful places.

James and I just returned from attending the Celebration of Life service in London, Ontario, Canada for cousin, Richard Darling. It was great to see some family we don’t get to see often and made the trip into an adventure. We flew into Detroit and stopped to see the Henry Ford Museum. It was an amazing place and wish we had more time to explore the entire complex. We then drove over to London via the Port Huron entry into Canada. While in London, James got to visit the Harley shop and I got to visit a quilt shop. After the service we drove on east to Niagara Falls, Ontario, where we spent the day exploring the Canadian side of the falls. We returned back to Detroit by a different route, going more south and entering back into the states by the Ambassador Bridge in Bridgeview. It is always good to get home after all the wondering.

Cemetery Memorial Service Mark your calendars for the upcoming annual Pitman Cemetery Memorial Service on the first Sunday in May. This year it falls on May 5. This is a chance to catch up with many who only come back once a year to pay respects to those relatives who are laid to rest in Pitman.
