Fourth of July
Muldoon will be celebrating the Fourth of July early on July 1. Parade line up begins at 8:30 a.m. by the Baptist Church. The parade is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. and everyone is invited to come out and join in the fun. Floats, 4 wheelers, walkers, flag wavers, trucks and anything to show your patriotism is invited to come out, so start thinking of something to have in the parade. Those who do not wish to participate in the parade can watch as it winds down FM 154 and loops through the park.
Following the parade there will be an auction at 10:30 a.m. in the park under the pavilion. Items are needed for the auction to help raise funds to maintain the park. Auction items in the past have been veggies, canned goods, antiques, and some beautiful handmade items.
After all the goodies are sold at the auction there will be a picnic style lunch held. Hot dogs will be provided and everyone is asked to bring side dishes and desserts to share. Bottled water will be provided. Be sure and bring a lawn chair to insure a seat.
At 2 p.m. the Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department will hold the drawing for their fundraising gun raffle. Be sure to take time to get your ticket before 2 p.m.
Wrecks
There were two wrecks on the Live Oak Creek Bridge on West FM 154 this past week, back to back days. The first was a truck and trailer that swerved to miss a metal gate that was lost off a trailer hauling junk that was not secured and ended up upside down in the creek. The second hit the bridge railing. These are the first known wrecks on this particular bridge. Please be aware while driving in the area.
Traffic in the area has increased and everyone needs to be aware of road conditions and the busier traffic patterns. Slow down and pay attention is the best advice. Not only are there farmers and ranchers taking care of business in slow moving large equipment, but also lots of wildlife moving around. Some of which are black hogs that are extremely hard to see especially at night, early morning or late evening.
