Do not forget to get your tickets for the upcoming fundraiser for the Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday, May 21. They will be serving plates of barbecue pulled pork sandwiches with trimmings. Presale tickets are available from any of the fire fighters and community support members. You can call (281) 682-5625 or (512) 914- 6021 for tickets. For more information, contact Harold and Virginia Boehnke at (830) 839- 4527.

Along with the Fire Department fundraiser the Muldoon Museum will be holding a fundraising bake sale. Pick up a sweet treat to go along with your meal and stop by the Museum to see all the local history that is on display. It is a great little collection of items from the past including lots of pictures of those who are no longer with us. The museum will open at 10:30 a.m.

Road Work

FM 154 is all set for a new surface. The road work signs have been put up, meaning the crews are not far behind. The crews will do a 10 mile seal coat through Muldoon. During this time there will be some delays in traffic. The job should not last long, but will cause some problems while it is being done.

Out and About

Debra and John Schwartzenburg enjoyed having Debra’s sister, Julia Speed come out to work on the place. Joining Julia was her daughter and son in law, Victoria and Jason Guerrero; along with their children Juliana and Jocelyn all came in from Houston.

Dana and Darrell Kulak took Dana’s dad, Devon Boehnke and traveled to Washington-on-the-Brazos to celebrate Dana’s mom, Virginia Tappe on Mother’s Day. Joining in the fun was Beth and Jack Field and daughter Erica; April and Kenneth Pospisil; Annie Zimmerhaunzel and son Luke; Jenny and Aaron Zuhn and daughter Charlotte; and Elton and Miko Kulak all gathered for a fun day of hot dogs, playing corn hole and water balloon toss. It was fun day with lots of laughter and visiting.

Ron and Pam Knotts recently spent an afternoon at Memorial Day service at the cemetery in Shiloh. Pam’s ancestors for several generations are buried there and every year on the first Sunday in May the community gathers to honor and remember those who have gone on before. The service is followed by a business meeting and a small meal. The cemetery association is responsible for repairs and upkeep of the original schoolhouse on the property. It was reported that many improvements were made this past year. The building should continue to serve the community for many more generations to come.

Neighborhood Watch

As traffic increases in the area, now is an important time to pay close attention to who is driving around in strange areas or in an odd way. Take note of the vehicle, license plate if possible and all the details you can including time, place and driver details.
