Out and About

Jamie and Willie Steinhauser along with their son Chip enjoyed a visit from Jamie’s parents, Robert and Marlene Laird of Colmesneil in East Texas. While here, Jamie took her folks over to the animal shelter and they found them a new companion pup for their new RV.

Kathy and Frank Chlumsky enjoyed a visit from their grandsons Connor and Hunter. The boys came to spend the weekend in the country. They brought their new puppy, Kona along. They all enjoyed some pool time to cool off. Everyone had a blast visiting.

Pam Sheffield and her sister, Michele Vogt recently flew to Lubbock, to visit their relatives for a week. Their cousin, Susan Ware, flew from Georgia to meet them for a few days visit. They stayed with their cousins, Donna and Steve Hill. They were joined by several other cousins and their aunt Flora, Donna’s mother, who also lives in Lubbock. They went out to eat together at several different restaurants, came home and played cards, dominoes and many other games together. One of the highlights of the trip was a visit to the Buddy Holly museum and the house where he and his friend wrote a couple of their famous songs back in the day, including “Peggy Sue” and “That’ll Be the Day” in his friend’s bedroom. The friend was a part of the original Crickets Band. It was very interesting to see a lot of Buddy Holly’s instruments and personal items that were in the museum. The family had so much fun that they are hoping to get together again soon.

Hot and Dry

It is July in Muldoon and things are hot and dry. It is getting tough on the pastures as the grass is getting drier and stock tank levels are dropping. This also makes things more fire prone. Be sure and check your equipment when using and that no chains are dragging or that a hot exhaust is not over a patch of vegetation that might catch fire. It will not take much to start a fire right now.

Temperatures have been over one hundred in the afternoons and even the mornings are not too cool. Drink lots of water, try to get everything done in the relative coolness of the morning and pray for rain.

Check Your Neighbors

There are still a few out in the area that are ill with various things. Check on your neighbors and make sure they are doing ok. Some of the elderly residents may need a little assistance in this heat.
