A birthday celebration was in order recently for Pam Knotts, and a phone call from her brother got the party off to a great start. A plan was presented that involved a weekend in Austin. Ron and Pam headed out on a Friday afternoon, dropped the dogs at the Pet Resort and made their way to party headquarters. The first stop was at the Saxon Pub and was great fun. The band was playing old tunes and the crowd of mostly senior citizens were dancing like teenagers. Ron and Pam felt right at home. Dinner was the next stop downtown at Roaring Fork Restaurant. The menu covered quite a variety of items including burgers, fish, pork chops and even duck. The meal was topped off with a fancy dessert that was shared around the table. A cozy guest room awaited back at the home of Pam’s brother and his wife, Ray and Christy Langenberg. And the celebration continued the next morning when mimosas were served on the front patio. Conversation focused on the two new red pickups in the driveway; Ron with a new Chevy and Ray with a new Ford. Finally, a great breakfast was served. As Ron and Pam packed to head home. The proposal was made to make this celebration an annual tradition and everyone agreed. A terrific birthday.

Another set of Muldoon birthdays were recently celebrated at the Oakridge Smokehouse. The Boehnke boys, Devon and Harold Boehnke, celebrated their birthdays with a big family and friend gathering. Everyone met up in Schulenburg to help Devon celebrate 85 years and Harold 80 years. Family came in from Houston, Hungerford, Austin, Magnolia and all over for a fun and festive time. The boys enjoyed a delicious chocolate and peanut butter cake that was beautifully decorated by Devon’s talented daughter Dana Kulak to reflect the guys’ country heritage with a nod to their cattle operation.

Neighborhood Watch

Muldoon is still a small community, even though we are growing, and we all need to watch out for each other. If you are driving by your neighbor’s place and something seems out of sorts or you see someone you don’t know there, call that neighbor and make sure everything is on the up and up. There have been reports of strangers trying to gain access to properties that are not theirs. A quick call might be the very thing that can save a lot of grief for that neighbor.

We need to all pull together to try and keep the Muldoon area safe. It all begins with being a good neighbor and participating in the Neighborhood Watch. Put your neighbors’ phone numbers in your phone, so you can make that quick call.

Grandson Wins

Kathy and Frank Chlumsky’s grandson, Hunter Dong, competed in the Texas State Wrestling event over the weekend. He is now State champion in the D3 Rookie 80 and also State champion in D3 Novice 80. Kathy and Frank are very proud grandparents.

Church News

The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church is in full swing for the spring. They are meeting every Sunday morning starting at 9:30 a.m. for a little fellowship over coffee and doughnuts and maybe some other sweet treats before the morning worship service begins at 10 a.m. Anyone interested in checking them out is invited to come out and experience this warm, loving and God-believing church.

On Wednesday nights the youth are meeting for a meal, some fun and lots of learning about applying God’s word to their lives. Area youth ages 13-18 are invited to come at 6-8 p.m. and join in this great group of kids.

SG2C are all getting ready for the big spring kick off with Christine Scott on March 30. The entire community is invited to come out and join in some great Christian music, wonderful fellowship and enjoy a great pot luck meal.

Weather

Muldoon has been experiencing some wonderful spring weather this past week. Temperatures have been very pleasant. Mornings have been a little on the foggy side, but afternoons have been sunny and warm. It has been a welcome change from the cold temperatures we have been seeing.
