Muldoon Musuem Holds Grand Re-Opening
The Muldoon Museum had a grand reopening on Saturday, March 4 with a nice crowd coming in to check out the improvements. This museum is a gem in this little community. It holds many treasures from Muldoon’s golden era. Times when the train and cotton were the kings of the area, these were the roots of the community. The upgrades to the exterior will help preserve the wonders of the past for future generations. With the new siding, paint job and new bars on the windows, be sure and check out the beautiful new details on the window bars, the museum is looking fabulous and ready for many more years of making and holding the history of Muldoon.
The museum has taken the treasures of the past and preserved them for future generations to know their history. There is everything from quilts and household items to farm tools. There are pictures and a military memorial plaque to honor those from Muldoon who served our country in the military. The variety of items is very interesting and educational.
The Muldoon Museum committee will be meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. to discuss museum business. The meeting is at the Museum and is open to anyone interested in history preservation, especially the Muldoon area. It is a great place to get your feet wet in local activities!
The Museum will be open once again on the regular schedule of the first Saturday of the month on April 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This offers everyone a chance to come through and check out all the great exhibits and visit with locals who have lots of great Muldoon stories to go with the items on display. So mark your calendars and drop by to say “Hi” and enjoy some history.
Out andAbout
Ron and Pam Knotts spent a few days recently visiting their son Derek and his family in Argyle, Texas. The big event of the weekend was grandson Troy’s 4th birthday party held at the Dallas Children’s Aquarium. After gathering in the party room the kids were treated to an up close look at a bearded dragon lizard. Then a trip to the sting ray tank and a chance to feed the rays. What a treat for the kids! Finally, giant cupcakes were served and then a quick turn to see some of the exhibits. Back at the house it was time for opening presents and trying out the new toys. Dinosaurs are always on hand and lots of puzzles kept the family busy well into the night. Ron and Pam are now hoping for a family visit to Muldoon in the near future, so Troy can meet the cows.
John and Debra Schwartzenburg threw a birthday party gathering for their twin nieces, Andrea and Ashley Russell. The girls, along with their mom Julia Speed and Ashley’s boyfriend Denis, came in from Houston for the family gathering. Lauren Schwartzenburg along with James and I all enjoyed cake and lots of catching up.
Wildflowers
It is spring and the wildflowers are really starting to come out and bloom. A drive through the country really is beautiful right now. The moist mornings have really brought out the blooms and it is looking like it will be a nice year for the wildflower bloom. Take time to get out and see all the color nature has to offer, just watch out for the hogs and other drivers.
