The renovations at the Muldoon Museum continue and progress can be seen. The siding is up and the painting has begun on the outside. This is so great to see that the old Muldoon Courthouse being lovingly cared for and getting the much needed repairs. After the painting is finished the new windows will be installed. That is when the real work will begin for the volunteers. They will have to put back and arrange all the displays that had to be pushed back and piled up to make room for the workers to complete the job. The grand reopening has not been scheduled yet, but when it is, this will be a great time to come out and check out the local historical artifacts that are under the care of the Muldoon Museum.

Christmas Activity

Coming up on this Saturday, Dec. 10 crafts will once again be happening in Muldoon at the Muldoon Fellowship Hall (formerly the Muldoon Methodist Church) building from 4-5:30 p.m. Local parents and/ or grandparents can bring their children/grandchildren out and have some creative crafting fun making some Christmas crafts. The word is that Santa will be making a stop by the Muldoon Fellowship Hall to listen to Christmas wishes and to take pictures. He is scheduled to be there between 4-5 p.m. and welcomes anyone who wishes to come see him to drop by.

After all the crafting fun and Santa leaves to go back to the North Pole, the Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department will hold their annual holiday meal starting at 6 p.m. at the fire station. Everyone is asked to bring a side dish and/or dessert to share.

Out and About

Jennifer and Clay Rightmer hosted their family Thanksgiving meal. They were very happy to have their kids Lane and Reed come in along with Jennifer’s family Will and Marilyn Howard of Marble Falls, along with Julie Zavala and her kids Kaylin and Zac of Georgetown for the feast.

Devon Boehnke was happy to have son Jeremy Wells and his wife Angela along with their kids Dylan and Brianna come to spend Thanksgiving Day with the family.

Harold and Virginia Boehnke hosted the annual Boehnke family Thanksgiving once again this year. They had twenty five family members arrive for some family time and enjoyed a chance to catch up, visit and relax.

James, Bobby and Joan Ivy went to LaVernia to join with the Wetjen side of the family at Judy and Kendall Jordan’s home. It was a great time visiting with all the siblings, their families and getting to meet niece Cami Anderson’s Bucknell roommate, Sandra from Poland, added a new prospective to the American Thanksgiving holiday. Cami and Sandra both are scheduled to graduate from Bucknell in May.

Ron and Pam Knotts spent the Thanksgiving weekend with their son Derek Knotts, daughter in law Anastasia, and grandson Troy. This was the first real extended visit since the long COVID lockdowns and a chance to get to know Troy who is an amazing 4 year old. Ron spent lots of time meeting dinosaurs, wrestling with Troy on the couch and doing puzzles and watching cartoons. Big Daddy (aka Ron) was Troy’s new best friend. For the Thanksgiving meal, Anastasia, who is Greek, fixed a beautiful turkey and lots of Greek sides. Even with the weather being cold and rainy there was plenty of fun and good food indoors. Lots more visits are already being planned starting with Christmas in a few weeks.

The Brown Girls (Nancy Cherry being one of them) and their families held their traditional Thanksgiving get together this year in Muldoon at the Muldoon Mercantile. They had not been able to gather since COVID, so there was much to catch up on and new babies to meet. In all there were twenty five family members who made it to the Brown Girls’ Thanksgiving celebration. After the turkey meal with all the trimmings, the kids were loaded up to experience “ranch life” and feed cattle. Everyone enjoyed the experience and was glad the weather held. All in all it was a great time of family visiting and lots of games, crafts and just plain old fun. They are all ready for next year to gather again.

Weather

Muldoon has been bouncing temperature wise. We have had some really nice days and then came some cold and windy days. The rains have been welcomed after all the dry weather, but the moisture really makes it seem much colder. Muldoon has not seen its first freeze yet.
