Muldoon Museum Open on Saturday
The Muldoon Museum will be open on the first Saturday in April from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Take this time to come and check out all the wonderful displays of the area’s history. There are lots of treasures to look at and take the time to read some old articles, look at old pictures and see lots of old railroad relics. Everything has been carefully displayed. There are old household and farm implements.
So, take the time to come out to our small community to check out some great items. Donations for the upkeep and improvements are always welcome, but admission is free to all. Step back in time and slow down long enough to check out this great local treasure of a museum.
Museum Board Meeting The Muldoon Museum board will be holding their monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 3 at 2 p.m. in the Muldoon Museum. Anyone who would like to get involved and contribute to the operation and improvements to the museum are invited to come out and see what all is going on.
Out and About
Clay Rightmer went to Waco over the weekend to spend some time with his daughter Lane Rightmer. They spent a wonderful day together catching up and Clay doing some “Daddy Do’s” for Lane.
Joan and James Ivy’s grandson, Ira Ivy, and his mom, Jenny Clair came in on Saturday to celebrate Ira’s second birthday. Debra and John Schwartzenburg hosted a small family gathering with Julia Speed, Lauren Schwartzenburg and Bobby Ivy with cake and coffee in honor of Ira turning 2. Everyone took advantage of the great wildflowers and took lots of pictures in the Bluebonnets.
Pam Knotts has been driving to Austin a lot recently for doctors appointments and on a recent Friday she was joined by Pam Sheffield and Anne Wright. The conversation and laughter was nonstop with the good friends catching up on recent events. On the way back from Austin they stopped in Bastrop for lunch at a newly discovered Italian restaurant, Bassano. They feasted on garlic knots, then lasagna and salad. The portions were large and that left them pondering what dessert they should choose. They decided to top their meal off with chocolate mousse cake. After they had eaten their fill they all took home to go boxes to enjoy later. The day turned out to be a great “girls’ day out.”
Muldoon VFD Fundraiser The Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department will be holding their annual fundraiser and open house on Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. They invite everyone to come out and enjoy complimentary hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, water and tea. They ask guests to bring a side dish and/or a dessert to share with everyone. They will be accepting a free will donation to help defray cost.
The day will begin with chances to bid on the items in the silent auction from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The meal will be served at 11:30 a.m. followed by the live auction. Also going on will be all kinds of kid games, snow cones, popcorn and a chance to meet Smoky Bear. The Texas Forest Service will be there to answer any questions and give out fire prevention information. The Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department will be doing fire extinguisher demonstrations throughout the day. If you have ever wondered how to use a fire extinguisher, here’s your chance to learn.
Here’s a chance to come out and social with others in the Muldoon area. Make plans to attend now.
Spring Round Up
The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church is planning a Spring Round Up on Saturday April 27. Put a place marker on that date and plan to bring the family out for some great family fun. There will be a “kids’ zone” with lots of fun games for the little ones. Tim will be cooking up hamburgers for everyone to enjoy, plus lots of cakes and cookies. There will be a “Dummy Roping” with belt buckles for prizes and a “corn hole tournament.” These are just a few of the great activities being planned. For more information about the Spring Round Up, contact Dave Derrick at (281) 788-8648.
