On the first Friday in May Muldoon saw a wonderful much needed rain. Over five inches fell on that Friday evening and there have been a number of days since that have had some rain. The nice part was on Saturday morning most of the rain had soaked up and not all had run off. This has made the ground muddy and the tanks full.

This nice rain was just what the area had been needing. This will be a great set up for the summer grass and hopefully it will be a milder summer, but the recent weather has been a wild ride with wild lighting storms, heavy rains and a few seeing some small hail. May has started off with a bang.

Grandson Wins

Kathy and Frank Chlumsky’s grandson, Hunter Dong competed in the 2025 TX-USAW State Freestyle & Greco Championship in Fort Worth over the first weekend in May. His hard work and training paid off with a third place win in the state competetion.

Cemetery Memorial Day On the first Sunday of May a small crowd gathered at Pitman Cemetery to honor those who are laid to rest in the historic cemetery. The cemetery was beautiful with the weather cooperating with cooler temperatures and had greened up after the recent rains. This year Steve Bowman brought the message and Don Kirby was once again on the piano making it sound wonderful.

Out and About

Nancy and Martin Cherry enjoyed having Nancy’s sisters and brother in laws come out for the Pitman Memorial service. Anne and Paul Comeaux from San Antonio; and Lulu and Steve Musick from Wimberly drove in for the day to have lunch at Rob- after-ert’s and then stayed on afterwards to enjoy some desserts and great memories.

Jennifer and Clay Rightmer slipped off for a fun evening with daughter Lane Rightmer in Waco. They attended the Baylor drama program’s production of Othello. Two of the young men they had hosted were involved in the production and it was a fun time for everyone.

Nancie Blair enjoyed a day out with her granddaughter Valarie Schick and great granddaughter Candence on Sunday.

Devon Boehnke and Darrell Kulak took off to Wharton for Devon’s great grandson Luke Zimmerhanzel’s First Holy Communion. Devon was a very proud great grandpa and enjoyed getting to catch up with some of his kids at the family filled affair. Once again, the roadsides are being filled by various animal carcasses that have been hit by cars. Some are small animals, but there have been a few hogs hit and that can be a major accident. Spring is still in the air and the wildlife is moving, especially at night. Then the scavengers some in to feast on those less fortunate animals and bring on a whole new animal interaction to watch out for and avoid them flying up out of the ditches, sometimes camouflaged by the tall grasses. Be aware and drive with caution.
