Muldoon Fourth of July Celebration Held
Muldoon celebrated the 4th of July on Saturday, July 6, this year. The turnout was not as big as in years past, but all who attended enjoyed the parade, eating hotdogs, bidding on auction items and just plain visiting with each other. Everyone had a great time catching up and just slowing down for the day.
German Visitors
Pam Sheffield recently welcomed missionary friends from Germany to her home and Flatonia Baptist Church. Alex, Sveta, Wenja and Emily Stuehn are a family that Pam stays in contact with in order to support their missionary needs. They originally were stationed in Russia, and recently moved to Germany to continue their mission. Alex is German and Sveta is Russian. They met in Russia several years ago when Alex first went there to do mission work. The language was a barrier at first, but Alex quickly learned Russian and she learned some German because they fell in love, got married, and now have two beautiful children.
They were a part of First Baptist Church in La Grange a few years ago and have reached out to Flatonia Baptist Church where they’ve made many friends over the past few years. Flatonia Baptist Church planned an ice cream social on Wednesday night to welcome the Stuehn family to Texas and have them talk about their latest mission work. They sang songs in German and Russian and it was a delightful evening.
The Stuehns are enjoying a few days in Pam’s home and some warm Texas weather. They are visiting friends in the area and getting to see all the local sights while traveling the area.
Out and About
Accomplished musician Anne Marie Cherry is home with her folks, Martin and Nancy Cherry, for a little while between concerts in Virginia before heading to Colorado to judge a horn contest. While staying in Muldoon, Anne Marie has taken time to go to Wimberly to visit her aunt and uncle there along with some catch up time with some of her cousins. She has been a very busy lady and enjoying her time off while in Muldoon.
Beryl Bust
Everyone was very busy last week as reports initially was sending Hurricane Beryl very close to Muldoon. When Monday morning came, Beryl had veered away to the east and all Muldoon got was around a half inch of rain the day before and very little when the actual hurricane was due. It was very disappointing for those who could have used some showers to help with the summer grasses. The main thing Muldoon got from the Beryl was strong winds and a cooler day in July.
Church News
The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church is staying busy this summer with the youth ROPE program on Wednesday nights. Youth ages 13-18 years old are invited to come out and experience some real connection with the Gospel. Starting at 6 p.m. with a meal, they meet for fun, fellowship and down to earth relatable Bible learning. Any youth who would like to join can come and experience the warmth of a true country church. This group is fairly large, and they are always looking to add to their gatherings, so come find out what is going on at the Cowboy Church.
Sunday morning services begin at 9:30 a.m. with coffee and fellowship at the SG2C. Morning worship services are at 10 a.m. This is a great way to check out the church and see what God has in store for this very active communityminded, God-centered church.
