The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church has been busy and is gearing up for the holidays.

They have a Thanksgiving meal planned for Wednesday, Nov. 15 6-8 p.m. The ROPE youth invite everyone to come out and join them in a wonderful meal and give thanks for all our blessings. They will be providing the turkey and the ham and invite everyone to bring along a side dish and/or a dessert to share.

They are gathering nonperishable items for Thanksgiving baskets for Thanksgiving and they are also putting together one for Christmas. Donations of nonperishable food items can be brought to the church anytime to be added to the baskets. This will be given to those in need in our community.

S2CG is also planning on being in Flatonia on Saturday Nov. 18 for the “Fall for Flatonia” gathering and will be handing out bags of popcorn. This is a great chance to ask one-on-one detailed questions you might have about the church. They have become a beacon in the community reaching out and serving those in need and here is your chance to talk with members about the church and all they have going.

The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church meets on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. beginning ning fellow- with coffee and fellowship with worship beginning at 10 a.m. They offer a youth program on Wednesday evening at 6-8 p.m. for teens, ages 13-18 years old. If you are curious about them, please come check them out.

Volleyball Travels

Patti Holly has been busy this fall following grandkids and has another reason to be proud. She’s been following her granddaughter, Avery Crainer, who is a junior volleyball player at Carrizo High School.

Avery is playing on the varsity team and doing very well. She has been acknowledged for her outstanding serving aces and for the most aces per set for the year. They had a great year and will be playing in the District playoffs with Avery playing the setter position.

If you see her running around Muldoon be sure and give her a pat on the back for all her hard work.

Fall/Winter Feeding Traffic in the area has increased tremendously and so has the lack of common courtesy in driving habits. It is that time of year again when the ranchers in the area are moving hay from storage to the field to feed their cattle. If you see a load of hay or any trailer for that matter, please slow down and give them the time and space they need. They cannot start or stop quickly. Slow down and follow to a passing zone.

Passing in a no passing zone is becoming more and more common in our area. This is very dangerous and many have been telling me of their experiences of crazy drivers. I have seen and have been passed by vehicles driving 80 to 90 miles an hour in a 60 mile an hour zone in those no passing zones in curves. These dangerous driving habits are even more dangerous when big heavy loads are involved. Please slow down and use caution while driving in and around Muldoon.

I have heard from a number of readers who live in the area that they have been seeing and experiencing some very discourteous and downright dangerous drivers in our area. Please watch out not only for the farm loads, but also for those who might be biking or jogging. Thank you to those who let me know what is going on.

Out and About

John and Debra Schwartzenburg along with James and Joan Ivy enjoyed catching up with Julia Speed and Andrea Russell over the weekend. Julia and Andrea just returned from an epic mother/daughter trip to Colorado that included a train trip across the state and a tour through Utah’s Arches National Park.

Nancie Blair and Joan Ivy took the Colorado Valley Quilt Guild bus to the Houston International Quilt festival. They got to see lots of beautiful quilts, do lots of shopping and Joan even ran into a cousin, Barbara Speed, while there.

Nancie Blair took her granddaughter, Valarie and great-granddaughter Cadence to church with her in Houston recently. They went to hear the testimony of Rachel Norris, a potter out of Bryan. Rachel used her pottery as an analogy for our relationship with God. They really enjoyed the time together and made some special connections.
