Monday Night Hamburger Socials Return
The Round Top Rifle Hall’s Monday Night Hamburger Socials are back on the schedule. On the first, second, and third Mondays of each month, the Hall is open from 5:30-8 p.m. for hamburgers, “The Rooster,” hotdogs, or chilidogs, along with fries or onion rings. All proceeds benefit the continued improvement of the Round Top Rifle Association.
Winter Antiques’ Show
The Round Top Winter Antiques’ Show is going on now. While it isn’t quite the magnitude of the Spring or Fall shows, you can still find just what you are looking for. Over 25 venues are participating in the Winter show this year, which runs through Sunday, Jan. 21. Garden & Gun Magazine is back again this year with a speakeasy-style pop-up lounge. This pop-up, presented by Explore Charleston, features drinks by High Wire Distilling and Rose Gold Wine, along with some tasty snacks. Several Charlestonbased brands will have shopping displays set up.
RT-C School Board Meeting
The Round Top-Carmine ISD monthly school board meeting will be Monday, Jan. 22 beginning at 6 p.m. The Elementary School is collecting photos of students enjoying life. If you have a photo of your student with their pet, family, or friend that you’d like to share in the yearbook, email them to nbage@rtcisd. net.
Small School, Big Hearts
Mark your calendars for Saturday, Feb. 3 for the annual “Small School, Big Hearts” fundraiser that will take place at the Round Top Rifle Hall. Tickets for the chicken and sausage plates are now available at local school offices, Round Top Mercantile, Round Top and Carmine banks, and online at rtceducationfoundation. org. On Tuesday, Jan. 30 at noon, join a Zoom call for the Winedale Online Talk: “18 Minutes through 187 Years; The Battle of San Jacinto and its National Aftermath.” Join San Jacinto Battleground educator, Bailey Brantlye, as she provides an overview of the battle of San Jacinto. She will recount how against numeric odds, morale challenges, and varying amounts of military experience amongst its soldiers, the Texan army was able to overcome the Mexican army in the 18-minute Battle of San Jacinto and change the course of history. Festival Hill
On Saturday, Jan. 27, Asleep at the Wheel will be at Festival Hill from 7-9 p.m. This is an evening of Texas Swing benefiting Festival Hill! Tickets are available at festivalhill.org. There will be a January Chamber of Commerce member meeting for lunch on Wednesday, Jan. 24 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Duo at Market Hill. Meal tickets are $25 and can be purchased at exploreroundtop. com.
